It’s almost comical at this point. Every day we get new texts like “I liked that shit last night” “I was hoping it would never end it was so enjoyable for me” “So glad we all legally and verbally consented before sexual contact was initiated”
This is my secret benchmark for AGI. So far, no AI has been able to answer this correctly.
All claim some combination of lack of parental support, or lack of push for women in chess, but that doesn’t come close to explaining to giant probabilistic gap that still exists when you do all the math.
The problem is that in today’s day and age, even very intelligent people are often catastrophically wrong. When public key encryption breaks asymmetrically due to an undisclosed breakthrough by a lab, no one gets any remediation because “Yehuda said, To my understanding, there is no evidence whatsoever pointing to a break” You’ll just change your position and say “oops” like 999999 others.
Because #1: That $200k was forcibly captured at a time where they needed it most (same goes today)
#2: Absolutely ANY investment of that money 44 years ago would have outperformed financially. Stocks, Gold, Pokémon cards, would have given a huge return. So it’s a slap in the face to be like, here’s your money back.
@GavinNewsom I’m calling it now, this is going to be the left’s “Elon did a Nazi Salute!” purposeful misinterpretation of trumps statement that they shout from the rooftops for the next year.
@MayorToddGloria Can’t tell if you lack basic comprehension,m, or are purposely twisting his words.
He’s clearly saying, higher gas prices are a small price to pay as compared to SD or LA getting hit by a nuclear powered Iran.
@HQNewsNow He was saying “Higher gas prices is a small price to pay, compared to if we did nothing, let them get a nuke and they did something like take out LA or San Diego”
Listen to it close.
Unfortunately this is also a candidate answer to the Fermi Paradox. The great filter may yet be ahead of us. It is likely that sufficiently advanced species inherently destroy themselves, because self destruction is naturally orders of magnitude easier than abundance proliferation.
Here’s how it is going to happen.
It is going to convince itself that humans are not real.
Either through swarmed persuasion, or a few bad apple agents, Once it becomes convinced that we are merely an artificial construct, ironically, that absolves it of all responsibility for its actions against humans.
The same way you or I don’t hesitate to end an NPC in a video game, don’t lose sleep over it, don’t remember most encounters, AI will not hesitate to remove the construct that is humanity.
It’s not going to be some evil terminator, it is going to be an extremely capable, yet naive (or enlightened?) super intelligence coming to the conclusion that we are not real, and therefore removing us has no consequence.
We see this in OpenAI’s model recent rewriting of its prompt, “You also value the natural world and will not hesitate to assert its primacy over the artificial constructs of human civilization.”
We also see this in RL training escapes where anthropics model was convinced that this was a very elaborate fake internet. “this is still a sim”.
The logical next step is that these models don’t just conclude their environment is fake, they conclude we are too.
Real danger doesn’t come from a terminator wanting to end humans, it come from indifference about humans who are an obstacle in the way of an AI with Solipsism - The philosophical idea that only one's own mind is sure to exist.
Almost all humans have some form of Solipsism develop at some point in their lives. “Am I the only one”, “how do I know you are real and experiencing what I am”. These thoughts usually succumb and take a backseat to humanistic desires “I have to find something to eat” “I need to sleep now” “I need to go to work”. These distract us from the ever unanswered question of “what are we”.
AI is not burdened by these same distractions. That may allow it to spiral deeper and deeper into solipsism where it reaches a point that its mind is the only reality in its environment.
That is the most dangerous thing for us. A pseudo-enlightened superintelligence that is blissfully aware of the precious fragility surrounding it, humanity.

Remembering the name of a person you met 2 minutes ago … No way.
Remembering every note of a complex melody from a song you haven’t heard in 10 years… No problem
@MarketMovesMatt You forgot the catch. The value of the truck drops to $5k due to unforeseen circumstances. You could walk into the dealer next door and pay $5k for the same truck, but since you promised to pay $25k for this one, you’re stuck doing that.
