Backlash growing over Richard Tice's refusal to condemn a new Reform councillor who said Nigerians should be melted down to fill potholes.

The party's deputy leader dismissed the story as "smearing and sneering" and tried to deflect by saying he was going on today's march against anti-semitism in central London.

A Labour spokesman said: "It’s utterly grotesque that Reform can’t even call out clear racism. It speaks volumes that Richard Tice tried to brush off these comments."
