To start, here are photos I took this weekend of a population of #Cambarus longulus…a large percentage of which exhibits this pigment #mutation!

These #crayfish appear as if boiled, because they lack other #pigments!

A #scary sight for any small vertebrate...a bullfrog! Bullfrogs are known to eat almost anything smaller than them, including birds and snakes. Due to that voracious appetite, they’ve become highly invasive in parts of the west—a real scare for native species.

Left the mulch pile for the snakes this summer, and success!! These #adorable things are hatchling #blackratsnakes. They’ll linger in the pile for a bit before leaving; if you have a mulch pile, I’d recommend leaving it alone from late June on!

A #mudturtle found on the beach on a barrier island, seemed dehydrated and weak with a corroded shell. Possibly washed into the ocean during a high water event? I moved it to the freshwater wetland over the dunes. Ever seen anything like this @AlongsideWild?

Wood frogs, like tiger salamanders, need moist conditions and water to breed in, and will also be affected by #climatechange in that erratic weather may disrupt their breeding cycle and harm their habitat.

The #EasternTigerSalamander is found in much of the US.
They need fishless, still water to breed, and often use #VernalPonds
As #ClimateChange causes erratic weather patterns, these ponds will not fill and dry up like normal, causing reproduction failure and population decrease.
