@DLCC NC SD 13 representing Robeson and Columbus County offers so much beauty and love. Being able to walk outside your house and just listen to the breeze is a benefit that many don’t have, especially in this pandemic. Our sense of place is built on the grace and mutual love.

@DLCC The Top Priority is undoubtedly Public Education. Because public education serves as the access point and provider for many career fields. Watching this system tank will be the biggest failure of our lifetime.

@DLCC A fair model of equal number representation or economic activity is more realistic to equitable representation. Even the idea of an independent redistricting committee leaves possible corruption and bought access to draw lines.

@DLCC In 2018, my district was radically gerrymandered. As a result, I have a different view on preventing our districts from being gerrymandered. If the ultimate goal of drawing Districts is to ensure local areas have federal and state representation, then we must have a fair model.

@DLCC We must become better at using the research and educational strength in our universities. As a leader in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry, preparing for this starts with investing into public health research that aids at prevention and recovery.

@DLCC The criminal justice system is gaining progressive movement, however for reform to happen in NC, we must begin with building advocacy that will gain legal grounds to build legislative merit for justice reformations. We need mental health support. We need a redemptive process.

@DLCC So, I am an advocate for urgent push for state-led intranet and non-virtual voting options that can be federally protected with laws that punish any ideas of fraudulent corruption

@DLCC Access to the ballot box now is only made worse because our current safety provisions for voting are so filled with heavy potential of corruption. I know this personally coming out of a campaign that was directly targeted in the McCrae-Dowless scandal.

@DLCC Getting our schools back is a matter of collective unity and supporting our front-line workers, starting with our teachers. We must focus on being less rule makers and more flexible in ensuring that the most valuable group to get back on track is prioritized-and that is our kids.

@DLCC The bottom line is that entry-level minimum wage workers should be able to bring in a paycheck working full time that can at least pay for rent/roof over a family’s head at the cheapest of housing. $7.25 @ 40 hrs a week gives a family only $290 before taxes. That is not enough.

@DLCC Increasing Minimum Wage and Expanding Medicaid, as two policies, would carry us farther in comprehensive economic development for the state than a year of legislative public policy. Because of the impact of these policies, a sense of urgency would bring us the greatest benefit.

@DLCC We have not expanded Medicaid coverage, our people’s quality of life is being treacherously mishandled. We are dealing with a domino effect of many who already don’t have insurance but now must potentially accept symptoms of a pandemic virus without professional attention.
