Super fun #NGS#genetic testing session with @LockwoodDNA and Vera Paulson at #2021AACC
The title of my talk: “NGS Applications for Hereditary Testing: Casting an Ever-Widening Net”
Thank you for this award – it is work that is done by our entire 200+ @seattleflustudy team - not by any one individual. It has been an extraordinary time for science, academia, and public health and I am glad that our team has played a small part in this moment in history. 1/n
Our research group at @fredhutch, @UWMedicine and @BrotmanBaty has sequenced the viral genomes of two SARS-CoV-2 infections that were connected to the White House #COVID19 outbreak. The @nytimes reports here: https://t.co/k54FDzVag9. 1/16
As the molecular team behind the @seattleflustudy, @debnick60 and I are excited to begin COVID-19 community testing in partnership with @KCPubHealth through #SCANCOVID https://t.co/7t0fdJQ6Xg Resources and thread 1/8
A few photos from my (first) hhill day as part of #AMPath2019 with @LockwoodDNA and @Path4u1 visiting the office of @RepJayapal. @Pathologists and @ AMPath are critical to precision medicine and appropriate patient care. https://t.co/ZiP8PBA8FZ
Look forward to participating along with a stellar line of speakers to teach the complexities related to informatics and interpretation of genomic data "Practical NGS Workshop for Laboratorians" at the 71st AACC Annual Scientific Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo. #2019AACC#ngs
BBI head of precision diagnostics and associate professor @UWMedicine, Dr. Colin C. Pritchard, urges the importance of diversifying language in the fight against cancer.
It’s our first #MemberMonday! Today we’re spotlighting Sarah Leary, MD, an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the @UWMedicine and attending physician in the Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at @seattlechildren Hospital. https://t.co/654q65W4kI
Thank you Tina Lockwood for a thoughtful and accessible presentation on finding the balance with emerging testing technologies. #PLUGSSummit19#labteststewardship
#AMP2018 attendees! Come join a cancer survivor & advocate, with our expert @AMPath and @Pathologists faculty, to explore the patient perspective in #NSCLC from 1:30-3:00, today (11/3/18) room 217. Thank you @AMP and @Medscape! #Amplifier@LockwoodDNA @http://EricBernicker
The end of genetic #privacy as consumer #genomics rises. A Science study shows the DNA of 60% of European descent Americans can be identified via public databases. In three years, it jumps to 90%!

Doctor, please write to me in #plainEnglish. The 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗼𝘆𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲𝘀 has a new #patientcentered guidance for directly writing letters to patients. Also applies to lab reports!

One base closer for gene editing. A study from China in @MolTherapy used #CRISPR/Cas9 to change a pathogenic variant responsible for Marfan syndrome in a human embryo. It worked 90% of the time as reported in @WIRED and @statnews

>90% of BRCA1/BRCA2 #BreastCancer missense variants are of uncertain significance (VUS). By in silico prediction, a recent paper created an algorithm to help classify thousands of these variants. It works!
