🌪️ NEW VIDEO: TORNADO TOUCHES DOWN IN UTAH

This tornado touched down in the foothills of Davis County Friday afternoon and then moved up into the mountains as the supercell thunderstorm pushed northeast.

We saw very tight rotation on radar as the storm moved through, and this video now confirms the tornado touchdown.

Thankfully, it moved into the mountains and away from populated areas. We got extremely lucky. 🙏🌪️

Recon NOAA3 Mission #3 has just sampled Hurricane LOWELL, recording a peak flight-level wind of 153 kt. Applying the standard reduction from flight-level winds suggests a maximum sustained surface wind of around 140 kt (160 mph), which would make LOWELL a Category 5 hurricane.

These observations indicate that LOWELL continues to intensify and is likely a Category 5 hurricane at this time.

– Damage Survey Update –

The tornado that struck Fayette, New York, on September 2 has been rated a low-end EF2, with estimated peak winds of 115 mph, according to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, NY.

The EF2 rating was based primarily on tree damage and the destruction of an outbuilding.
