This is the worst part of being an SEC team that has an OOC rival with the league 9 conference games. We're replacing yearly fresh, fun games against teams like Miami, VAtech, UNC, NC State and replacing them with less exciting Arkansas, MS State, etc. Our entire schedule going forward is going to be 9 SEC games, Clemson, and 2 cupcakes with one being the required in state rent a victim. At this point I hope Clemson does get brought in during the next round of expansion so they can be one of our permanent opponents and we can go back to scheduling something significant and fresh out of conference every year.

The University of South Carolina and the University of North Carolina football programs announced that they have mutually agreed to cancel their home-and-home football series for the 2028 and 2029 seasons. In a related move, South Carolina has added Bowling Green State University to its 2028 schedule.

The Tar Heels were scheduled to play at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, S.C., on Sept. 2, 2028, with the Gamecocks making the return trip to Kenan Memorial Stadium in Chapel Hill on Sept. 1, 2029.
