Yemeni forces used Claude to help develop a missile, Anthropic says

Some military personnel in northern Yemen, reportedly linked to the Houthis, used the AI model instead of engineers: Claude wrote code for the missile guidance system, configured the autopilot, simulated the flight and assembled the firmware.

They bypassed Anthropic’s safeguards by hiding the connection to weapons and breaking the development process into seemingly harmless tasks.

One of the missiles was even tested but crashed. A few hours later, the military personnel returned to Claude to figure out what had gone wrong.

I am absolutely glued to the screen by this exceptional reliving of 9/11.

I was 11, came from school, saw it live on czech TV with my mother, old japanese NEC CRT screen. It was not as terrifying as it is today. The sheer horror of broadcasted evil is different than a normal tragedy we are all used to.

As a political streamer & commentator, I refused to stream and comment during the tragedy of 7/10 in Israel.

I am now 1000% sure I would not stream or comment for several days after 9/11. I would wait for others to say their words. Those are the moments where leave the job to the newscasters and politicians.

Thank you for this social media experiment. Again, exceptional.
