Kenya Forestry College Graduates 214 Students

The 48th Graduation Ceremony of the Kenya ForestryCollege (@LondianiKfc) took place at a colourful ceremony in Londiani, Kericho County, where 214 students received diplomas and certificates in Forestry and Environmental Management, among other courses.

The Speaker of the @NAssemblyKE, @HonWetangula, who was the guest of honour, emphasized the importance of the graduates' training in forest conservation. He noted that only a quarter of the country is water-secure and urged the graduates to use their skills to increase forest cover and protect water catchments. The Speaker promised to support the fencing of forests to prevent encroachment and degradation and implored the nation to plant trees in fragile ecosystems to mitigate disasters such as landslides

The Speaker also pledged to support KFC infrastructure development through increased budgetary allocation.

The Cabinet Secretary for @Environment_Ke, @DrDeborahbarasa, encouraged the graduates to participate in the 15 billion tree-growing campaign to help the country meet its target by 2032.

The Governor of Kericho County, Dr. Eric Mutai noted that the college is a valued asset in the county, training students from across the country. He pledged to create opportunities for employment and internships within the county's environment department.

The Principal Secretary for @Forestry__Kenya, Mr. Gitonga Mugambi thanked parents for their support and highlighted the many opportunities available to the graduates in forestry management.

The Chairman of the KFS Board, Mr. Titus Korir praised the government for its support, which has enabled the college to become a centre of excellence in natural resources management.

@CCF_Kenya, Mr. Alex Lemarkoko thanked the Speaker for presiding over the ceremony. He noted with much appreciation the government's sustained support to build the capacity of the Kenya Forest Service. Specifically through the employment of 2700 rangers and 600 trained at KFC, among other advanced development since 2022.

The graduation ceremony was organized and hosted by the college Principal, Mr. Francis Musyimi, and the college fraternity.

Today, while presiding over the 48th Graduation Ceremony of the Kenya Forestry College, I warned that rampant forest destruction undermines President William Ruto’s 15 billion trees initiative and pledged that the National Assembly will push for increased funding to fence all gazetted forests to stop encroachment.

I urged county governments to partner with the Kenya Forest Service to train forest extension officers noting that fencing is essential to protect water catchments and called on the ministry to map disaster-prone areas and prioritise tree planting after recent deadly landslides.

I congratulated the graduands and urged them to use their skills to advance environmental conservation and the nation’s green-growth agenda.

The former Prime Minister Right Hon. @RailaOdinga was the chief guest at the ongoing 9th #DevolutionConference2025 in Homa Bay County.

Right, Hon. Odinga first toured the new Homa Bay Arboretum, which was established in a collaboration between the Kenya Forest Service and the County Government, where he planted a tree. 

The former Prime Minister was accompanied by Governor H.E @gladyswanga and the Chairman of the Council of Governors H.E @HEAhmedJiir, among other leaders.

CCF Lemarkoko Visits Kenya Forestry College, Pledges Support to Elevate Institution

The @LondianiKfc (KFC) continues to serve as a cornerstone in advancing Kenya’s forestry sector, playing a critical role in economic development and supporting national initiatives such as the 15 Billion Tree Growing Programme and the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
In recognition of the college’s strategic importance, the @CCF_Kenya, Mr. Alex Lemarkoko conducted a working visit to the institution. He was accompanied by the KFS Commandant, Mr. Mohammed A. Mohammed.

During the visit, Mr. Lemarkoko received a comprehensive briefing on the college’s achievements, ongoing challenges, and proposed plans to elevate KFC into a regional centre of excellence in forestry training and research.

He also toured key facilities at both KFC and the Forest Law Enforcement Academy (FoLEA) to assess their suitability for learning and student welfare.

Commending the college for its contributions to conservation, Mr. Lemarkoko stated, “Kenya Forestry College is a cornerstone of our conservation mission. We are fully committed to supporting its advancement and transforming it into a centre of excellence.”

He also took time to interact with students, encouraging them to stay focused and play an active role in the country’s conservation efforts. “You represent the future of Kenya’s forestry sector. Your commitment and professionalism are vital to achieving our national tree planting and climate resilience goals,” he remarked.

The visit highlights Kenya Forest Service’s unwavering dedication to strengthening forestry education and empowering the next generation of environmental stewards.

At the conclusion of his tour, the CCF also paid a courtesy visit to the KEFRI Rift Valley Eco-Region Research Centre in Londiani.

Mr. Lemarkoko was hosted by the College Principal, Mr. Francis Musyimi. Also present during the visit was Dr. David Langat, Director of the KEFRI Rift Valley Eco-Region.

Fahari Aviation GM pays CCF a Courtesy Call at KFS HQ

The General Manager of @FahariAviation, Mr. Hawkins Musili has today paid a courtesy call on the @CCF_Kenya, Mr. Alex Lemarkoko, at the KFS headquarters in Karura to reaffirm their commitment to forest conservation through innovation.

The meeting reviewed progress on the February 2025 MoU between the two organizations, focusing on drone deployment, data analysis, personnel training, and joint advocacy.

Mr. Musili praised KFS’s strides in adopting drone technology for forest monitoring, stating that the partnership reflects their shared goal of using innovation for sustainable conservation.

Mr. Lemarkoko welcomed the engagement, emphasizing the strength of public-private collaboration in advancing modern forest management. He informed the CEO that KFS was integrating drone technology in forest surveillance and mapping of critical ecosystems to enhance their protection and management.

Both parties reviewed key milestones, including technical training, a forest drone curriculum, and joint research proposals—underscoring their dedication to environmental innovation and community engagement.

Also present in the meeting were Eunice Chepkemoi from Fahari Aviation as well as the head of FIS Evans Kegode, Head of Partnerships Ambrose Genga and the Head of the Drone Unit Capt. Paul Ajanja, among other officers.
