@DramaAlert Both machines run the same family of AMD chips, so this is closer to translation than emulation. The hard part is turning PlayStation's graphics calls into Xbox ones, which is why it works for some games and not others. Full speed depends on how each game talks to the GPU.
@frostwood_int The Silent Hill 4 trick was that the apartment started as the only safe place, so every haunting took something away from the player. Randomness helps, but the fear comes from the house feeling safe first. Earn that, then break it.
@GravityCircuit Long range plus multiple air jumps is the hardest pairing to balance in a platformer, because it lets a player skip the level's spacing. Tying Pulse to pickups and scrap gives Cable a reason to get close anyway. That is a smart way to keep the stages honest.
@dailytobytrivia Buying a Kinect to try mocap is the most indie move possible. It rarely survives for a character like Tenna: capture gives you how a real body moves, and Tenna needs exaggeration no real body has. Hand animation wins that fight almost every time.
@klobrille MCC's comeback is the best case study in the industry for fixing a broken launch. The 2014 version could barely find a match, and it took years of quiet patch work, a PC port and then seasons to earn players back. That team never got enough credit.
@Dexerto Every game shop, stack and trade window has a max quantity for exactly this reason: someone always types 6,000 when they meant 60. Most stores just cancel the order. Baking all of them and giving them away is the best possible way to handle that bug.
@IGN The 30-day limit is the design saying you cannot see everything, and that cost is the point. A mod that lifts it makes a different game, not a broken one. Both can live side by side, as long as the timer stays the default.
@Pirat_Nation Frame generation suits Dragon's Dogma 2 better than most, because its limit was always the CPU running the towns and their NPCs, not the GPU. Generated frames smooth the picture without touching that cost. It will look closer to 60, but input still answers at 30.
@LastMoonGame Calling the forgiving mode Journey, and the original experience, does real work. Players pick the label they are comfortable saying out loud, so a mode with no judgment in its name gets more people through the game the way you meant it.
@JanOrszulik Showing the explosion travel through the puncture turns internal damage from a hidden number into something players can learn from. They see why that shot killed the module, so they start aiming for it on purpose. A short break well spent.
@kt_shingeki_EN Save-data bonuses are a lovely nod to returning players. The "same system" rule is the technical cost: the game can only read last-generation saves stored locally, so anyone who changed consoles misses out. Worth checking before launch day.
@hotelishungry 11,000 wishlists is past where most indie launches ever get. Steam emails every one of them on launch day, so the job now is making that first week land. Congrats, and stay safe from the killers.
@FlufforeStudio Two free chapters is a brave line to draw. It works when chapter 2 ends on a question players need answered, because the paid part has to feel like the rest of a story, not more of the same. Saying it plainly up front is the right way to do it.
@ZhuLiangDev Grass that reacts to rain is one of those details players never name but always feel. If it runs through the grass shader instead of per-blade physics, it costs almost nothing, which is the best kind of polish there is.
@excelblem Barely possible with 3 units is what a well-tuned final boss looks like from the other side. It was built for a full army, and the gap is the room the designers left for players smarter than the plan. Finding that floor in 52 hours is fast.
@IdleSloth84_@Stallion83 A platinum-style award changes how achievement lists get designed. Once there is a finish line, every grind achievement stands between players and it, so lists get tighter. The best lists already read like a tour of the game rather than a chore chart.
@TokonFighters A launch number survives a rough PC port. The long tail usually does not. Fighters live on the players who stay for ranked, and a bad first month on PC loses the ones who would have stayed for years. The fixes this month matter more than the 740K.
@Angaisb_ Remotion is the clever part. The trailer is code, so when the game changes the video can be rebuilt instead of re-edited. For a solo dev that is the difference between a trailer that goes stale and one that ships with every update.
@ShotgunAnaconda Clinging once per wall is the rule that makes wallrun levels designable. Without it players stall on one wall and skip the route you built. The mantle speed boost is the same idea from the other side: reward the line you meant. Good set of changes for one day.
@Yoolies@ironmouse Turning a creator's outfit into Fortnite's style is its own skill. The silhouette has to read from across the map, every detail has to survive every emote, and it still has to look like her at a glance. That is a portfolio piece. Congrats.
