BLOOD OF HEROES, STRENGTH OF A NATION
It is with great shock that I received the news of the Boko Haram attack on the Nigerian military that culminated in the loss of the brave soldiers of the 29 Task Force Brigade, Operation HADIN KAI, who died in a coordinated terrorist assault on their camp in Benisheikh, Borno State.
My heart is heavy with grief. These were not just soldiers, they were fathers, sons, brothers, and patriots who stood on the frontlines so that millions of Nigerians could sleep in peace.
Their courage, their sacrifice, and their unwavering commitment to the unity and security of our nation will forever be etched in our collective memory.
I extend my deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the Nigerian military and to the families of these fallen heroes.
In this moment of unspeakable pain, I urge you to take heart. Though words may fail us, we must find strength in the noble lives they lived and the ultimate price they paid for the survival of our nation. May God grant you the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
The Defence Headquarters has confirmed this tragic incident, which occurred in the early hours of Thursday, April 9, 2026. I join millions of Nigerians in mourning as I honour the memory of these gallant soldiers, led by Brigadier-General Oseni Omoh Braimah, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the defense of our sovereignty.
Let it be said clearly and without hesitation: their sacrifices will not be in vain. The blood of our heroes cries out not for despair, but for renewed resolve. Because of their bravery, our determination as a nation to defeat terrorism and restore lasting peace is stronger than ever.
I also wish to reassure all Nigerians that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is fully committed and actively working to ensure that Nigeria remains stable and secure.
This tragic incident, while deeply painful, does not define us, it strengthens our unity and sharpens our collective resolve to overcome every threat to our nationhood.
Our armed forces continue to receive the necessary support, resources, and strategic direction to prosecute the fight against insurgency decisively.
In this solemn moment, I pray that Almighty God comforts the bereaved families and grants eternal rest to the souls of the departed heroes. May He strengthen and protect our troops still on the frontlines, watching over them as they defend our land with honour.
I pray for the wisdom, strength, and resilience of the president as he leads the nation through these challenging times.
May God also grant guidance and fortitude to Governor Babagana Zulum as he continues to steer Borno State through the complexities of security and rebuilding.
And to all Nigerians, may God unite us in purpose, heal our land, and grant us lasting peace.
May the souls of our fallen heroes rest in perfect peace. 🇳🇬
I am deeply honoured to stand alongside my brother, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang as well as our dedicated party leaders and members, at the flag-off of the APC e-registration exercise in Kanam and Langtang North.
The impressive turnout and palpable enthusiasm recorded today are clear affirmations of the people’s renewed confidence in our party and in the promise of progressive, people-centred leadership.
This exercise transcends mere numbers; it represents a collective determination to build a stronger, more inclusive political family, one firmly rooted in unity, dialogue, and selfless service.
I commend the governor for his steadfast leadership and for creating an atmosphere that bridges divides, fosters cohesion, and promotes harmony across Plateau State.
Under his guidance, our party continues to grow as a platform for consensus, participation, and development.
As the All Progressives Congress, we remain resolute in our commitment to strengthening internal democracy, broadening participation, and positioning Plateau State for greater national relevance and sustainable development.
Together, we will continue to close the gaps that divide us, deepen trust among our people, and ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every community.
Plateau State is on the rise, and the APC will walk this journey hand in hand with the people every step of the way.

In the last 24 hours, I undertook a swift but purposeful tour, visiting Ogun State for the House of Representatives by-election and Ekpoma in Edo State for the Senatorial by-election campaigns. I met with our Governors; His Excellency Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State and His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo of Edo State to tighten our preparedness and strengthen our winning strategies.
The energy and determination I saw among our leaders and members on the ground filled me with renewed confidence that the APC is ready to deliver decisive victories.
Our mission as a party is about service, unity, and the shared dream of a greater Nigeria. In this defining moment, I call on all APC members and supporters to stand as one, work tirelessly, and keep faith in our collective strength. Victory is not just possible; it is certain when we march forward together with purpose and conviction.
Our unity will deliver our victory.

After their Sokoto visit, @GautierMignot2, @nentawe1 & partners met in #Abuja to scale up malnutrition response in North‑West/North‑East & deliver relief in #Benue. The Amb. urged more domestic funding & reaffirmed the EU as Nigeria’s trusted partner for development. #EUinNigeria
At a joint press conference with H.E. Gautier Mignot, Ambassador of @EUinNigeria, I welcomed the European Union’s commitment of €1.5 million to support victims of the Yelwata crises and other IDPs in Benue State, and to strengthen Nigeria’s response to the nutrition emergency in the North-West and North-East.
This support includes €0.5m from @eu_echo for rapid response and €1m through the SIDPIN project for durable solutions to be implemented by partners including @UNHCRNigeria, @IOM_Nigeria, @UNHABITAT, and @UNICEF_Nigeria.
Together, we are mobilizing to combat the alarming levels of malnutrition affecting children under 5 and lactating mothers. I reiterated President @officialABAT’s commitment to leave no one behind.
We will convene a joint task force with the EU and partners to coordinate interventions, streamline supply chains, and respond rapidly to the deepening food insecurity.
Last weekend, H.E. Ambassador Mignot and I visited Sokoto State, where we saw first-hand the situation at nutrition stabilization centers run by @MSF_WestAfrica (@msf), @ACF_Nigeria (@acf), and @UNICEF_Nigeria. We thank these partners for their lifesaving work.

Attached is the video of my visit to Sokoto State
Alongside the Ambassador of @EUinNigeria, @MSF, and @ACF_Nigeria (@actionAgainstHunger). We visited stabilization centres that are treating severely malnourished children.
Over 3.5 million children under 5 are at risk in Nigeria.
We must act now to mobilize funding, resources, and sustained partnerships.
Every child deserves a chance to live and thrive.

Still on our humanitarian mission to Sokoto State, we conducted on-the-spot assessments at stabilization centres treating children suffering from acute malnutrition in Sokoto town and Gwadabawa LGA. The situation is heartbreaking, especially watching these children in urgent need of care, and the centres are under immense pressure. We commend and deeply appreciate the dedicated efforts of UNICEF Nigeria, Doctors Without Borders, and Action Against Hunger, who are actively supporting nutrition interventions in these hospitals.
As we approach the Lean Season, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction calls for immediate mobilization of humanitarian and material resources, especially across the North East and North West. We also acknowledge the European Union in Nigeria for funding critical components of this life-saving work. Now is the time for strengthened partnerships, increased support, and united action to protect our most vulnerable.

Today in Sokoto State, I joined the @EUinNigeria Ambassador to conduct an on-the-spot assessment of the rising cases of severe malnutrition among children. We were warmly received by H.E. Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, whose leadership and hospitality are deeply appreciated.
With over 3.5 million children under 5, are estimated to be at risk of severe malnutrition across Nigeria, and urgent and coordinated action is critical. The Ministry, in partnership with @EUinNigeria and the Sokoto State Government, is developing a robust, life-saving response plan.
Every child deserves a chance to grow, thrive, and dream.

Nigeria-EU Senior Officials Meeting started today in Abuja, co-chaired by Deputy MD, Africa,@eu_eeas, Mathieu Briens, & Director, Regions,@NigeriaMFA, Amb Janet Olisa, gathering partners from various sectors. The 2-day engagement prepares for the upcoming Nigeria-EU Ministerial.
Brief video of my visit to Yelwata, Benue State, to assess the impact of the recent crisis firsthand.
We are committed to a data-driven, people-centered response that brings humanitarian response and long-term solutions.
Over the past two days, I was in Benue State to meet with affected communities, traditional rulers, and local leaders. I visited Yelwata, displacement camps, scenes of destruction, and hospitals where the wounded are recovering. I spoke with grieving families, displaced persons, and survivors whose resilience in the face of such loss moved me deeply.
On behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I extend sincere condolences to all families who lost loved ones. Mr. President is deeply saddened by these senseless attacks and stands in solidarity with the people of Benue. The Federal Government is committed to responding not just with empathy, but with tangible, coordinated action.
The needs assessment we validated during this visit will shape our integrated response, focusing on peacebuilding, humanitarian aid, and early recovery through livelihoods and development support. We will work closely with the Tor Tiv, Ochi Idoma, state actors, and partners to ensure a response driven by the voices of those most affected.

I visited Konduga LGA of Borno State with @WFP, where relative peace is enabling displaced persons to return to their communities, farms, and participate in the food cycle. The joint efforts of the Government and WFP are restoring hope to communities that suffered both conflict and last year’s devastating floods.
We met with the farmers and inspected solar-powered irrigation systems that have helped local farmers cultivate rice, onions, and tomatoes. Some of these crops are now being integrated into locally produced nutritious meals for malnourished children, linking agriculture to health and our humanitarian goals.
Our partnership has also supported women-led farmer groups among displaced persons, strengthening food supply chains and promoting inclusive recovery. These women are leading the charge in rebuilding food systems from the ground up, contributing to resilience and dignity.
We also visited His Royal Highness, the Shehu of Borno, to brief him on ongoing humanitarian efforts and receive royal blessings.
We assured the people of Mr. President’s @officialABAT commitment to help them rebuild their lives and lead in their own recovery. This is the Renewed Hope Agenda in action.
#FoodSecurity #HumanitarianAction
I visited Ngala LGA in Borno State, Nigeria’s largest IDP settlement, alongside @WFP, at the border of Nigeria, and Cameroon, and just 7km from Chad. Amidst improved peace, many refugees are returning home from Chad and Cameroon. But last year’s floods and years of insecurity have devastated lives, infrastructure, and livelihoods.
From helicopter arial view, we saw vast hectares of irrigated farmland, once used for wheat cultivation but now abandoned due to insecurity. Hundreds of square kilometres of fertile land lie idle while food needs are rising. Yet this land holds promise: a huge opportunity to rebuild livelihoods through secure, climate-smart agriculture.
In discussions with community leaders, women, and food vendors, we witnessed the pressure on food systems. Through FG and @WFP partnership, over 750,000 displaced persons are being supported with biometric e-wallets and food vouchers redeemable by purchasing locally produced food stuff at local retailers via POS, boosting transparency and dignity.
This model strengthens local economies and food production and aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Together, we are restoring hope, enhancing food security, and creating the foundation for sustainable return, recovery, and prosperity.
