This week the @StatesAssembly are asked to approve the enactment of the Convention Rights Law, introducing a legal obligation for politicians and others to actively consider children’s rights.
Our members prepared a statement in support of this coming into effect in January.
Thanks and congratulations to Deputy @LouDoublet who started work on Children Rights Law in 2017 with her Backbencher proposition and presented the Commencement Act today.
In 2017, I lodged a proposition requiring States members to consider how our decisions affect children and young people. Today, the @StatesAssembly agreed to make this a legal requirement from 1 Jan 2024. Thank you to all those who have supported this work. @UN@GovJsyCYPES
