Great discussion at #FACON26 today with the Fulbright community on mapping Chicago's civic soft power. Our @ChicagoCouncil Emerging Leaders project explores how education, culture, and civic relationships connect our city to the world. Thanks to everyone who joined us!
Looking forward to joining Lauren Ostrowski, Jacques Schuhmacher, and the Fulbright community at #FACON26 in DC to explore how education, culture, and civic relationships connect Chicago to the world. A project that grew out of our @ChicagoCouncil Emerging Leaders program.
Chicago's home prices are rising more than six times faster than the national average. Why? Because we aren't building enough housing where people want to live. https://t.co/xFd9m7jYvu
Chicago's building code quietly taxes housing supply. Zoning reform gets attention, but construction costs kill deals too, especially for missing-middle housing.
Over at @acitythatworks: Daniel Koslovsky has a detailed look at building code reforms that could cut the cost of construction by 20-25%. https://t.co/wQPCLKj8a6
Chicago is the best city in the world and I believe we can build something that’s better than anything we’ve experienced before. That’s why I’m running for Chicago Mayor.
If you believe in this vision, get involved.

American exceptionalism isn't about claiming perfection. It's about believing that no country is better positioned to innovate, adapt, and renew itself. That's something worth preserving and celebrating.
As the United States marks its 250th anniversary, the public is divided over the idea of American exceptionalism. While majorities of the Silent Generation, Boomers, and Generation X continue to say the United States is the greatest country in the world, Millennials and Generation Z are less convinced.

Illinois' data center debate isn't growth vs. affordability, it's who pays for power. Meta, Amazon, and Google already fund their own generation elsewhere. Require the same here: Illinois keeps competing, ratepayers don't subsidize the grid buildout.

I agree. O’Hare is a tremendous asset, but the taxi times can be brutal, especially when traveling with kids. After a long flight, another 30-60 minutes to reach the gate can feel longer than the flight itself.
A reader from Nashville who regularly flies into Chicago is calling out plane taxi times at O'Hare Airport: "O’Hare is beyond abysmal. From when I touch down, it literally takes between 20 minutes to an hour to reach the gate." https://t.co/K7rwKNW7SO
Big validation for Chicago and Illinois’ long-term quantum strategy. The federal government is putting $2B behind quantum companies, including several connected to Illinois’ growing ecosystem and quantum park. https://t.co/ykyUDnD9Wl

Just wrapped two days in DC with the @ChicagoCouncil Emerging Leaders program. Remarkable access to people shaping foreign policy, and a cohort I learned just as much from. Serious policy engagement isn’t confined to DC. It’s being built in Chicago.
Great article and some good policy takeaways here. Nobody ever walked Grand/Halsted/Milwaukee at 8:15am to ask 'should we do all of this at once?' Every box was checked, just not the one that matters: putting residents and small businesses most impacted first.
Extended interview: Former Nebraska senator Ben Sasse has metastatic pancreatic cancer. He spoke with 60 Minutes' Scott Pelley about where America has been and where it could still go.
Tremendous A list of partners and speakers from across Europe, America, and more, gathering in Greece for the @DelphiEconForum to talk about geopolitics Europe, the US, Iran, China. Thrilled that the @ChicagoCouncil is a partner this year.
With so much analysis out there, and everyone an “expert” on foreign policy, it’s a bit unsettling how little primary reporting is actually being done, and how incomplete the underlying data may be.
Great recognition for Bannockburn School, ranked #1 public K–8 in Illinois by Niche! Credit to the teachers, students, and families who make it what it is. https://t.co/JvrnKMnb66
