Today the Care Taker Govt backed by the Establishment and despite orders of the High Court have again robbed voters and political parties specifically PTI and candidates of their rights by shutting down mobile services across the Country to ensure there is no live reporting of polling creating confusion for polling agents, polling teams, voters and candidates. The power brokers are not only against our freedom of expression but also our right to information. Anything which empowers the people is despised by the ruling class. But we all have to rise above, take this challenge and step out to vote for the sake of democracy and our collective future.
NA 236. Askari 4 polling station. The voting hasn't even begun yet at 3 pm. Hundreds of people queued up -- senior citizens, women, children. The presiding officer threatening to pack up, if people don't cooperate -- which they have been since 8 am.
Mobile networks shut down, making communication and coordination more difficult, or impossible.
People are predominantly voting for 🍆. MQM doesn't even have a camp office.
The state has effectively disenfranchised thousands of people here through various tactics. This is a colossal failure of ECP. The weakest link here is the presiding staff, and thousands of votes are basically contingent on their mood swings, and willingness.
All of this happening in a core urban area -- we don't even know what's happening elsewhere.
This is a classic disenfranchisement playbook, that can be picked up by any despotic regime anywhere in the world. Probably the worst elections I have seen (since 08) in terms of disenfranchisement.
Any results coming out of this should be taken with a grain of salt, or not even that.
Two days ago @BBhuttoZardari was claiming how brilliantly Karachi is doing due to the work undertaken by their Administrator who later became Mayor in a hijacked election. It took one hour for all the major arteries of Karachi to drown.
Khi is the worst out of all urban cities when it comes to law & order, infrastructure, public transport & disaster mgmt. The majority of areas don't have water or gas.
PPP has been in the govt for 15 straight years.
How does this party get even an ounce of sympathy or support?
@BhuttoZulfikar I’m reaching out to you as I embark on a journey to create a film that took its inspiration from Ghulam Ahmad Rabbani whose show was made possible by @fbhutto. I’m making my thesis film which is to be displayed end of this year.
@KB_BUT I’m a film student from IVS currently making my thesis film. I’m looking for a collaborator to help me produce my film in either a producer’s capacity or sponsor. I believe your involvement could be truly transformative in my journey of my film. Many Thanks!
(3/3) The benefits of such a collaboration extend beyond mere recognition. Your involvement would not only help me realize my creative ambitions but also provide a unique chance for people to be a part of a project that holds great value. I’m more than happy to discuss in details
(2/3) I find myself in need of a collaborator to bring my vision to life either by becoming part of this meaningful and though-provoking piece of cinematic art or finding a person to help me produce my thesis film by securing partial or full funds.
The exodus is gaining strength. People and capital will continue to leave, while we gravitate towards an environment that is framed around singing ballads in praise of personalities and institutions, all the while losing skilled professionals & precious capital in the process.

Two years ago, I made fictitious transit maps. Today, I’m happy to share with fellow #Karachi residents a real map of all functioning bus lines, featuring parks, hospitals & shopping & dining destination along these lines. High-res version at https://t.co/Lvv6rV3v5v
This is what should be done at Rekodiq. Under current structure, no refining will be done locally. Low-value Cu-Au concentrate will be exported, and refining will be done elsewhere
