@LeadingReport Bombing only achieves nothing a temporary effect. Pearl Harbour wasn't a decisive knock out by the Japanese. It was a temporary set back. The massive amount of bombing during WW2 still needed follow through by ground forces. We are nowhere near a peace settlement.

@nt_scones Rapid research suggests that New Zealand has sprouts, and now is pretty much the season. So I’m willing to do some pre-season tasting down-under.
@nt_scones Sprouts! If available in New Zealand, I’ll give it a go. Is the recipe available? Fingers crossed for a ‘hint of sprout’ approach. For a festive scone, Christmas Pudding Scones will be a tough act to follow.
@nt_scones Due to the absence of NT properties in New Zealand, I’ll be baking recipe #50 of the National Trust Book of Scones. The Mottisfont Hot Cross Scones. Can’t wait!
@CostaCoconuts @littlemore20 British Army Crossed Cannons Cloth Trade Badge, and Warrant Officer 3rd Class crown, or if used in combination with stripes, Sergeant Major. Probably circa WWI.
@sarah_clelland @NinaWarhurst@RogerJ_01@BBCBreakfast Brilliant and well deserved. Really enjoyed reading and hearing about your scone odyssey. Best wishes, Chris, the ‘all 50 guy’ in New Zealand.
When we look at the ruin left in Gabrielle's wake, we should know it isn't simply the result of a capricious and arbitrary weather system - an added edge of intensity is the result of conscious choices by people who have the power to act but choose not to.

Just sitting here gobsmacked/heart broken seeing the devastation through Tairāwhiti and the Hawkes Bay. I don’t think we can begin to understand the impact on people’s lives or the economy of Aotearoa New Zealand.
