Sometimes the most meaningful moments don’t happen in the classroom, but instead happen when someone puts their words into action and goes the extra mile.
On Friday, School Resource Officer/D.A.R.E. Officer Weller visited one of his students, Alexis, at the hospital after she was unable to attend her D.A.R.E. graduation. Knowing how important that milestone was, he made sure she didn’t miss it, personally delivering her certificate and sharing that accomplishment with her.
It’s acts like these that remind us what this program is truly about: connection, compassion, and showing up when it matters most.
We couldn’t be more proud. 💙
Proud of SRO Weller for helping @KearneyPolice expand the D.A.R.E. program to Central Elementary! Not a better venue to hold graduation than the Merryman! Our goal still stands to expand D.A.R.E. to each elementary school in the district. Congrats Cardinals, and well done!
Beyond proud of this group of professionals and the partnership they hold with @KearneySchools to help maintain a safe and healthy learning environment for our students!
Today, the Kearney Police Department proudly recognizes National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day!
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our dedicated School Resource Officers who serve as mentors, role models, educators, and protectors in our schools every single day. Their commitment to building positive relationships with students and staff helps create a safe and supportive learning environment throughout our local schools.
Our SROs go above and beyond the badge offering guidance, fostering trust, and strengthening the connection between law enforcement and our community’s youth. Their presence makes a lasting difference in the lives of so many students.
Please join us in thanking our School Resource Officers for their service, dedication, and the positive impact they make each day! 💙

Kearney High School in Nebraska hosted its annual Kearney Stage Dual, which is in a literal theatre. 🤯
Before being hired on as a police officer recruit, Ofc. Mroczek served as a KPD intern as well as a Community Service Officer.
These two roles play a vital role within our agency and an incredible opportunity for professional growth and development!
