We celebrated 25 years of Ashoka East Africa a pillar in our region’s social enterprise ecosystem.
From a single vision in 2001 to 100+ Fellows, 4 countries, 44+ executives trained, and 250+ partners, Ashoka continues to shape systems and unlock change makers
We joined Ashoka East Africa in celebrating 25 years of impact, guided by the African proverb “A river is filled by many streams.” This proverb reminds us that great achievements are never the work of one person or one organisation they are the result of many contributors.
During the Africa Day celebrations on 25th May 2026, we formalized our partnership for PSES 2026 with Ashoka East Africa with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in Nairobi.
It was also a moment to pause and honour legacy. As a token of appreciation, we presented Ashoka East Africa with this message:

For 25 years, Ashoka East Africa has been planting seeds of change in communities across the region, proving that bold ideas rooted in local realities can transform systems.
Their journey inspired us at FUSE to follow that same path, building ecosystems where African social enterprises don’t just survive, but lead.
Today, we are proud to stand with them as co-builders of the next chapter for Africa’s social enterprise sector.
A chapter where partnerships move us from convening to action, and from action to lasting impact.
Here’s to 25 years honoured, and to the future we’ll build together.

2/3 A major milestone was the development of the JJAS 2026 Seasonal Media Action Plan by #Ethiopian journalists, grounded in EMI forecast products and designed for continuous updates.
👉🏾 The workshop also strengthened media confidence in forecast interpretation, helping improve weather & climate communication for disaster risk reduction particularly timely given the projected strong El Niño event and its well-established teleconnection with the Ethiopian JJAS season.
