@DiveBTC@BitcoinBombadil@flaming_hodl That's complete nonsense. The main chain had a hardfork in 2013, and several in 2010. It has slowed to a crawl under attack, and needs to do something.
Spamcoin (which is NOT the main chain) is an altcoin that was created in hardfork fashon just a couple weeks ago.
Mining does not give Bitcoin its value—it simply finds the next block, which is then verified by every node. Bitcoin’s value comes from people holding the coins, those dollar-cost averaging into it, people buying and selling goods with it, and the thousands of node runners who keep the system decentralized.
