@MasterMend0@MrCasey62 Wow really brave MasterMend0. To have such an uncommon opinion from an anonymous account. This type of catholic bigotry and lies is definitely not voiced on this app. I practically NEVER see it daily….go read the catechism before you comment. A lie of ignorance is still a lie.
@MrCasey62 Absolutely baffling that Prot’s can read the Old Testament and see how the ark of the covenant was revered for carrying the word of God. Then say Mary carried THE word and she wasn’t as special as a golden box. If one housed the Lord for 9 months pretty sure it changes you.
@JamesWashngton @theneoncrusader @realecabahug@praytherosary That’s already been discussed in this thread.
Man, there’s just no fruit in this argument anymore. I’ll pray the Lord guides your mind to clarity. May God bless you.
@JamesWashngton @theneoncrusader @realecabahug@praytherosary You’re twisting what is said above to fit your viewpoint instead of reality. To say there was unbelieving Jews signifies believing Jews as well. The believing stayed even though the teaching is tough.
@JamesWashngton @theneoncrusader @realecabahug@praytherosary I killed it with my assessment. And no it’s asinine to think Isiah’s prophecy only refers to the Jewish people in John 6. There were many Jewish people that didn’t accept Jesus’s teachings and ministry. You’re saying that it is referring to this group of people at that time.
@JamesWashngton@realecabahug@praytherosary What about Paul in 1st Corinthians 11?He was mistaking Christ as well? Anyway why does it matter to you. According to Protestantism all one needs in faith in Christ our savior.
Interesting study: “EU imports of Russian fossil fuels in the third year of the invasion surpassed the EUR 18.7 bn of financial aid they sent to Ukraine in 2024.” https://t.co/vHjhnR5dZg
The Warped Incentives of Bureaucracies
By @ChrisRossini
The nature of government is not the same as any other organization of people. Government is not like (and cannot be like) a business.
What makes government so different?
Taxation.
Government confiscates its revenues. It does not acquire its funds voluntarily, like everyone else.
If an individual confiscates someone else’s money, that person gets arrested. Legitimate businesses also cannot confiscate their revenues. They can’t make you buy what they're selling.
Government’s ability to tax means that its incentive structure is fundamentally different than everyone else’s.
Government believes (and acts like) our tax money will always flow in. So their ability to economize is extremely distorted.
Think of it like this: When you shower, do you worry about each and every drop of water that comes out of the shower head? Of course not. Why? Because you know that the water will keep flowing, until you turn it off.
This is how government is incentivized to view our tax money. They don’t worry about it in the same way that business owners (or households) do with a profit & loss statement.
Government assumes that our tax money will always be there for the taking.
How extreme can it get? How about $37 TRILLION in accumulated debt…Is that extreme enough?
Can you name any other group of people walking on the face of this earth that can rack up so much debt? Of course not.
Bureaucratic decisions are also made based on politics.
A business owner can look at his P&L and see (A) this is profitable, I need to invest more here, or (B) this is unprofitable, I need to cut here, and stop producing that.
Government doesn’t operate that way.
Government decisions are made politically. This is why government agencies last, and last, well beyond their expiration dates. They become like zombies; simply there to eat more tax money.
Starting a government agency is easy. Getting rid of it is a huge struggle.
Look at what DOGE is dealing with right now…The outrage over stuff that shouldn’t exist in the first place!
Now let’s explore the warped incentives around government agency budgets.
The great economist Ludwig von Mises wrote: “Seen from the point of view of the particular group interests of the bureaucrats, every measure that makes the government’s payroll swell is progress.”
In government, the best way to "swell" your budget is to blow through your current budget. That way, you can plead for more money.
Without blowing through your budget, how are you going to ask for an increase? You obviously don't need it.
Bigger budgets (in government) mean more prestige for bureaucrats. You can brag about the huge budget that you oversee.
Also, if you don’t blow through your budget, the other department down the hall will blow through theirs.
THEY will get a budget increase. Not you. You made the mistake of not blowing through yours.
Does this mean that government is filled with horrible people that are just looking to rip off taxpayers?
Absolutely not!
There are tons of good, hard-working people in government. But we are talking about the warped INCENTIVE structure that government has, compared to the rest of us.
Because the incentive structure is the way that it is, it leaves the door wide open for people that ARE looking to rip-off American taxpayers.
So as DOGE does what has to be done, keep in mind all of the above.
America has the biggest and most bloated bureaucracy in the history of the world. There is no way to rationalize a federal government budge of $6 Trillion in the “land of the free.”
If the government has a $6 Trillion budget, you are not free!
You’re working to fund the government and all of its bureaucrats.
@PartesanJournal@elonmusk@DOGE See you don’t actually look anything up and probably just read headlines. See DOGE is an official office. They took the USDS, created under Obama, and re-tooled it to not have to jump through any red tape of creating a brand new dept. Complain all you want but they were smart.
