EqualyzAI (@equalyz_ai) is honoured to be among 60 organisations joining a Gates Foundation (@gatesfoundation) –convened global commitment to make AI work for 3.4 billion people whose languages remain underrepresented.
For us, this commitment addresses one of the defining inclusion challenges of the AI era: language should not determine who can access, use and benefit from Artificial Intelligence.
As AI becomes increasingly embedded in how people learn, work, communicate and access opportunity, billions of people risk being underserved by systems that do not sufficiently understand their languages, voices and contexts.
This is why the commitment matters.
At EqualyzAI (@equalyz_ai) , our work is focused on building the foundational infrastructure required to close that gap: representative speech datasets, African language resources and localised voice technologies that enable AI to better understand and serve communities across Africa.
As our Co-founder and CEO, Dr. Olubayo Adekanmbi (@bayoadekanmbi), puts it:
“The true promise of AI is fulfilled at the last mile, when it reaches people in their own language and voice, and improves the lives of those who need it most.”
Being part of this global commitment strengthens our resolve to move faster and further in building towards an AI ecosystem where African languages, voices and contexts are represented by design, not as an afterthought.
Because inclusive AI is not simply about making powerful technology available to more people.
It is about ensuring that the technology can understand them, speak to them and work for them.
60 organisations. One global commitment. 3.4 billion people whose languages deserve to be represented in the future of AI.
Every language deserves a place in AI, every voice deserves to be understood.

DSN - Data Science Nigeria has joined a Gates Foundation–convened commitment alongside 59 other organisations to help shape an AI future that works for more people.
This milestone reflects an increasingly important global imperative: the future of AI cannot be shaped by technological capability alone. It must also be shaped by who has the capacity to build, contribute and lead.
For DSN, this is why the commitment matters.
For the past decade, we have worked to strengthen Africa’s capacity within the global AI ecosystem by developing talent, advancing locally relevant research, building representative datasets and creating pathways for African innovation.
As our Founder and CEO, Dr. Bayo (Olubayo) Adekanmbi PhD, puts it:
“Inclusive AI begins with whose realities our datasets reflect and whose talent we equip to build.”
For Africa, that means ensuring that:.
Our realities must be represented in the data.
Our researchers must contribute to the science.
Our talent must have the capacity to build, and
Our communities must share in the opportunities AI creates.
Because inclusion in the AI era must extend beyond access.
It must include the capacity to shape the technologies, knowledge and opportunities that will define what comes next.
Standing alongside organisations committed to this ambition reinforces both the progress being made and the responsibility ahead.
60 organisations. One global commitment. A stronger mandate to ensure Africa helps shape the AI future.

Care
AI can only drive inclusive growth when the people it is intended to serve can meaningfully access, understand and use it.
That makes language, voice and local context fundamental to how far the benefits of AI can reach.
Today in New York, our Co-founder and CEO, Dr. Olubayo Adekanmbi @bayoadekanmbi, joins a high-level, closed-door roundtable hosted by the United Arab Emirates and the Emirates Foundation @efuae_ at the Permanent Mission of the UAE to the United Nations.
Focused on AI, Philanthropy and Inclusive Growth, the UNGA81 engagement convenes leaders across technology, philanthropy, policy and development to examine how AI and catalytic investment can unlock opportunity across emerging economies and underserved communities.
For @equalyz_ai, the opportunity is clear: as investment in AI accelerates, investment in the infrastructure for inclusion must accelerate with it.
This means building the representative speech datasets, African language resources, locally grounded models and voice technologies that enable AI systems to understand and serve communities in ways that reflect their languages and realities.
It also means ensuring that philanthropic and technological investment reaches beyond access to AI and helps build the local data, infrastructure and capabilities required to make AI genuinely useful at the last mile.

The promise of AI will not be measured only by how powerful the technology becomes, but by how many people it empowers to participate.
At EqualyzAI, we are building towards a future where language or voice is never a barrier to that participation.

To build voice technology that truly understands our people, we must include millions who don’t use smartphones or the internet.
VoiceBridge makes that possible.
By using simple phone calls on basic features phones, VoiceBridge allows anyone, anywhere, to contribute their voice in their native language without needing data or Wi-Fi. It gives researchers, NGOs, and developers the exact tool they need to collect authentic, high-quality African voice datasets directly from the community.
No smartphones and no internet? No problem. We are bridging the data gap so no community is left behind in the AI revolution.

Using a massive 70-billion-parameter model to categorize financial receipts is the equivalent of hiring a freight train to deliver a single envelope.
A research paper titled "Where A Small Language Model Helps in Invoice Categorization, Understood Through Embedding Geometry" proves mathematically why compact models punch far above their weight in structured document processing.
The authors investigated the performance of Small Language Models (SLMs) in classifying multi-field, real-world invoice data by analyzing their underlying embedding space geometry.
By measuring vector distance, manifold overlap, and class separation before and after fine-tuning, they proved that fine-tuning collapses messy invoice representations into tight, geometrically distinct clusters.
Massive LLMs are cost-prohibitive for high-volume, real-world document workflows, while standard rule-based systems break whenever layouts change.
Understanding the geometric capabilities of Small Language Models allows us to design highly targeted, localized SLMs that handle heavy document processing workflows natively and cost-effectively, ensuring enterprise AI remains scalable without blowing past computational budgets.

Naija no dey carry last!
To cap off an incredible week at Pan-Atlantic University @pau_nigeria in Lagos, our CEO and co-founder, Dr. Olubayo Adekanmbi @bayoadekanmbi delivered a bold and unforgettable closing remark at the Deep Learning Indaba @DeepIndaba 2026.
Dr. Bayo challenged the continent's AI community to move beyond surface-level metrics, calling out five major "diseases" holding back true progress across Africa's tech ecosystem:
Attendiasis: Showing up for every main Indaba while remaining inactive in local IndabaX chapters back home.
Sponsoriasis: The same faces who seemed to have understood the "system" to securing sponsored attendance to DLI year after year, thereby denying many new persons the opportunity to participate.
Posteriosis: Producing posters mainly for instant big event visibility instead of pursuing rigorous research, grounded with real impact
Communitydemia: Building a community just to boost a personal brand, only to abandon it once a PhD or fellowship comes through.
Profilitis: Curating an impressive global profile without pouring genuine value back into the African AI space.
His candid admonition to the researchers, builders and participants was to move past superficial wins and commit deeply to building sovereign intelligence for the continent.
He closed with this profound charge to the attendees: "Don't stop until you are proud!"
Which of Dr. Bayo's points resonated with you the most? Drop your thoughts in the comments below!

PROFOUND MOMENTS @ehccglobal VALUE INFORMATION OVER INTERVENTION.
Proverbs 11:9
“
An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour:
but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.”
Luke 7:22
“ Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them.”
One way to know associations not to entertain is that ; they will seek to rubbish, discredit and undermine the valid contributions certain strategic individuals have made in your life, without themselves having anything valid to offer you as a replacement. If you yield to such influences, you will end up empty handed and full of regrets . If my association with you cannot at least replace effectively and exceed , what it intends to cost me, in terms of my present valid associations, you aren’t worth it. Be wise!

We didn't build VoiceMaker because the technology was interesting.
We built it because Yoruba sounded flat. Pidgin broke. And no global voice platform had even heard of Ijebu dialect.
African creators, filmmakers, and businesses deserve voice AI that actually sounds like home, not generic, not foreign, not close enough, not a watered-down approximation of it.
That's what we set out to fix. And we're just getting started.
Try it for free → Visit https://t.co/qUQrylc0OU
We'd love to hear your feedback.
