NYCHA stay week 3 – Queensbridge Houses, Queens @LynnePattonHUD joined volunteer resident and Tenant Association President April Simpson. @LynnePattonHUD hosted her largest community meeting with residents to help address their issues & relay them to @BartGlobal
Through @LynnePattonHUD’s collective effort, 500,000 masks were provided to @NYCHA’s operations & essential staff. Another $1M donation was recently split between @NYCHA & @NYCDHS.
Thanks to @SecretaryCarson & the @NYCHA agreement, @BartGlobal is bringing real change. 108 new boilers to be in place by 2026 & 148 new elevators by 2024. Most importantly, @NYCHA will correct lead-based paint deficiencies w/a prioritization of at-risk children.
NYCHA stay week 2 – Douglass Houses, Manhattan @LynnePattonHUD was hosted by TA President @CarmenQ1938. They dodged rats & got stuck in the elevator w/@NYSenBenjamin, an unacceptable danger that residents have endured for far too long
NYCHA stay week 4 – Fenimore-Lefferts, Brooklyn - Leonard & Gwendolyn Jones hosted @LynnePattonHUD who found multiple damaged unused doors purchased by NYCHA in a sewage-infested basement
NYCHA stay week 1 – Patterson Houses, The Bronx @LynnePattonHUD stayed with Glady Sanchez & her amazing family for a week so that she could experience first-hand how residents live and report her findings to the Federal Monitor @BartGlobal
I am proud that my month-long stay at @NYCHA directly resulted in the hiring of 2 outside vendors to supplement understaffed caretakers. During the pandemic, they cleaned 2200 buildings, 3400 lobbies, & 29,000 stories per week.
One of the things @LynnePattonHUD is most proud of is her 4-week, multiple boroughs stay in @NYCHA, the first time a federal regional administrator lived with families to experience their plight & directly resulted in the hiring of 2 outside cleaning vendors
The @WhiteHouse’s Opportunity & Revitalization Council is protecting our most vulnerable communities & uplifting them to economic prosperity. @LynnePattonHUD aided w/ outreach to communities in NY & NJ! Over 550,000 African American leaders have been briefed nationally.
Newark, New Jersey, Garden Spires @LynnePattonHUD worked with federal, state, local officials, & slumlord to help tenants and turn their deplorable buildings into safe, sanitary, updated apartments @RepDonaldPayne@CityofNewarkNJ@NJhousing
In 2019, @LynnePattonHUD stayed @NYCHA for 1 month to bring awareness to the plight of @NYCHA residents living in squalor for decades. Her stay resulted in over 759 unique media hits per week & prompted @POTUS to call an emergency meeting, the first of its kind!
One of my proudest accomplishments was convincing @HUDgov to reinterpret RAD2 for multifamily preservation, so it does NOT to trigger Davis Bacon prevailing wages unless a project expands by 9+ units. Preservation developers are taking the savings & REINVESTING them BACK.
I’m proud to say that it was my experience w/a distressed multifamily property, Garden Spires, in Newark that triggered the launch of a nationwide REAC Reform Task Force that is currently eliminating longstanding loopholes in @HUDgov’s flawed physical inspection process.
After 3.5 years in my role as RA, I have overseen the largest program region in the country, @HUDNY_NJ, & $8.5 billion in @HUDgov funding. I’ve fought tirelessly for NY & NJ & facilitated the first emergency @NYCHA meeting with a sitting @POTUS.
Two years ago, we transformed the way @HUDgov tells the story about the people it serves when we launched #HumansofHUD. Through photos and short documentaries, we are documenting the journeys of the people who have been impacted by the Department’s programs and services.
...where a child under 6 resides or visits due solely to the federal government’s historic 3-year investigation. Period. Plus @POTUS has increased annual lead hazard funding at @HUDgov from $145M under Obama-Biden to $290M in 2020 & requested a record $360M for 2021. Facts.
Not only does @NYCHA receive $30M per week from @HUDgov that they can use for lead remediation, but they ALSO receive $50M per year from the city for lead remediation that comes DIRECTLY from an annual @HUDgov CDBG grant. Plus, @BartGlobal found 2500+ more units w/potential lead
@RitchieTorres wants the federal government to fully fund the immediate abatement of all lead in @NYCHA $3 billion But @LynnePattonHUD says they do provide funds, “NYCHA receives over $30 million dollars per week from HUD. Fact.” Watch 545 pm @PIX11News
