It was both encouraging and inspiring to meet with the second cohort of 25 Somaliland engineers undertaking advanced training in Israel in the fields of water management, storage systems, and modern water technologies.
Investing in knowledge and strengthening the skills of our professionals is essential to achieving sustainable national development. These engineers will play a vital role in modernizing Somaliland’s water sector and advancing the development of our national infrastructure.
My Government places the highest priority on expanding and improving public infrastructure, particularly access to water. We are committed to ensuring that, within the next three years, every citizen of Somaliland has access to clean, safe, and reliable water.
I am confident that the partnerships, expertise, and investments we are building today will provide a strong foundation for realizing our national vision and securing a more prosperous future for our people.
Beautiful scenes of solidarity with Israel in Somaliland. The show of support comes as Somaliland President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi opened his nation’s embassy in Jerusalem during his first official visit to Israel, highlighting the deepening relationship between the two countries.
The move represents a significant diplomatic milestone for Israel, which became the first country in the world to recognize Somaliland in December. The Muslim-majority nation, which declared independence from Somalia in 1991, joins seven other nations with embassies in the Israeli capital. While Kosovo opened a Jerusalem embassy in 2021, Somaliland becomes the second Muslim-majority territory to do so.
