It's been proven that the game could be better (look at mods like Sodium). They just choose to continually add new mobs, blocks, and items instead of fixing the core engine

@ondelivery10 @Wafel_ijzer @MulmZuDemVerbot @notch It's possible to get the Java edition to run on an android device (there used to be an app called Boardwalk that would do this) but on iOS/consoles it would be theoretically impossible to port due to them not really being able to run the JVM
