Our child was born in October, and we informed FRRO soon after receiving the Canadian passport on Jan 2026 . The delay happened because the birth certificate process itself was prolonged due to administrative issues within the Tamil Nadu government system. We travelled to India primarily for family support and necessary medical care, and throughout this period we have tried to follow every rule in good faith.

During my in-person visit, the FRRO officer mentioned a penalty of ₹20,000 for delayed intimation. However, the online portal now reflects ₹27,200. Despite repeated requests, no one has been able to identify the exact legal section, notification, or official penalty table that explains this amount or how it was calculated.

This situation has caused significant stress and financial pressure on our family. We are not refusing compliance — we are simply requesting transparency: the applicable rule, the official penalty schedule, and a clear fee breakdown so we can proceed correctly.

Kindly review and guide us toward a fair resolution. Thank you.
