Our spotlight today is Lucky Owoicho.

Lucky Owoicho is the Programme and Innovation Manager (Digital Skills Accelerator) at the Aid for Rural Education Access Initiative (AREAi), where he leads the design, implementation, and continuous refinement of programmes that equip women and girls in underserved communities with essential digital competencies for learning, work, and participation in an increasingly digital world.

He holds a Bachelor of Science (https://t.co/Q1eYMjyFoT.) in Accounting and a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Education, bringing together expertise in programme management, education, and innovation. At AREAi, Lucky has played a pivotal role in the development of the organisation’s Digital Skills Curriculum, drawing on the Internet Skills Scale (ISS) Framework to create context-responsive learning experiences.

His work has contributed to the successful delivery of the Digital Skills Accelerator (DSA), which has directly reached more than 3,000 girls with foundational digital skills.

Lucky’s portfolio spans programme strategy and implementation, curriculum design and contextual adaptation, facilitator capacity strengthening, stakeholder engagement, digital assessment systems, quality assurance, and the application of real-time learning data to drive continuous programme improvement and evidence-informed decision-making. His work reflects a strong commitment to expanding digital inclusion and creating equitable pathways for women and girls to thrive in the digital economy.

Digital inclusion does not begin with advanced software or technical certifications. It begins with confidence.

Across our Basic Digital Skills sessions, girls aged 13–18 are learning something many conversations about digital access overlook: how to engage with technology intentionally, not just observe others using it.

At AREAi, this is where our Digital Skills Accelerator (DSA) begins. Before employability. Before entrepreneurship. Before the outcomes that often make the headlines.

It starts with a girl confidently navigating a device, understanding how the internet works, accessing information safely, and building the digital confidence that opens doors to learning, opportunity, and participation in an increasingly digital world.

Because meaningful digital inclusion is not simply about access to devices, it is about equipping girls with the foundational skills to use technology with purpose and confidence.
