Researchers from Western Sydney University, in collaboration with the international @KM3NeT project, have detected one of the most energetic neutrinos ever – deep beneath the Mediterranean! 🌊✨
Published in Nature today, its energy was roughly a 100 million billion times the energy of visible light photons and about 30 times the highest neutrino energy previously detected. ⚡
The ultra-high-energy neutrino – a tiny, nearly massless particle that travels unimpeded from the furthest reaches of the universe – dubbed KM3-230213A, carried an astonishing energy of 220 peta-electronvolts (PeV).
This extraordinary discovery brings us closer to understanding the powerful forces shaping our universe and sheds light on some of the most energetic and distant events in the cosmos. 🌠

A team led by Western's Prof. @MFilipovic23, have discovered a mysterious circular ring near our neighbouring galaxy that could be the first known case of an intergalactic Supernova Remnant – remains of an exploded star that could be up to 7000 years old. https://t.co/PSDj8ryQnQ
