The Constitution had an answer for moments when the republic was outmatched: letters of marque and reprisal.

From a legal perspective, there are so many issues with this "deal."
First, the original settlement agreement requires written agreement by the "parties" to execute an amendment. Trump is a party, he has not signed this amendment, therefore its validity is questionable at best.
Second, there seemingly is *nothing* prohibiting Blanche and Trump to just rescind this amendment with a new amendment after Cornyn/Tillis leave office.
Third, January 6th defendants can and will get taxpayer funds from the federal government via other means, whether through direct lawsuits (i.e. Ashli Babbitt's family) or the Federal Tort Claims Act. Given Trump's insistence on compensating them, I find it hard to believe Blanche will stand in the way.
Fourth, what happens if Trump wants to sue his own government again next year for something he sees as a wrong against him. What if he sues for what he views as an unlawful raid on Mar a Lago by federal agents? Nothing would prohibit the revival of this anti-weaponization fund under a different name.
@Timodc@gtconway3d Tim, look closer. You of all people should know anything that has transpired can be easily undone immediately after a Blanch confirmation. Please tell the whole story. This is too important to leave anything out
BREAKING: Republican Congressman Bryan Steil just acknowledged that there will be an additional process that all women will have to go through if they want to vote after changing their name due to marriage under the Save Act.
“It will look a lot like if an individual wanted to go and sell their car. If you have a different name than what was on your car, there is a simple, straightforward process for that.”
Undoubtedly this will lead to less women voting, and most women vote Democrat.
This is the real reason Republicans want to pass this law. They want to silence women.
"Terrible things are happening outside. Poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. Families are torn apart.
Men, women, and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared."

Never in the history of Western democratic politics has a single government contained so many proven and brazen liars who lie so often and so effortlessly and so demonstrably.
The Fascist playbook: Hitler stated in Mein Kampf, winners in politics are those who resort to “the weapon which most readily conquers reason: terror and violence.”
Take a moment to look at the inhumanity captured in this extraordinary photo running on the front page of tonight's Minneapolis @StarTribune. It shows federal immigration agents immobilizing a protester on the ground and spraying chemical irritant directly into his face. The scene reminds me of the brutality used against civil rights protesters in the 1960s. We look back at those old photos and wonder how the authorities could have behaved so savagely; many years from now, young Americans will look at these photos from 2026 and wonder how anyone could have justified shooting a woman in the head as she tried to drive away, arresting 5-year-old schoolchildren on the street, or holding a man down and spaying chemicals into his face. Thanks to the Star Tribune reporters and photographers for documenting this work; they create accountability, they make democracy work, and they make all of us in journalism proud.
BREAKING: Thousands of protesters show up to protest against Donald Trump near the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
People all around the world really hate Donald Trump.
I hope they realize that most Americans hate him too.
"Nobody understood why Dad kept the storage unit.
Cost him $89 a month. We told him to cancel it, sell the stuff, save the money. He's 68, retired on a fixed income. Can barely afford his medication. But every month, without fail, $89 to Store-All on Industrial Drive.
"What's even in there?" I asked last Christmas.
"Things people need," he said. Wouldn't explain further.
I followed him there in March. Couldn't help myself. Worried he was hoarding, losing his mind, wasting money we didn't have.
Watched him unlock unit 247. It was full. Furniture. Appliances. Clothes on racks. Kitchen supplies. Bedding. Toys. All organized, labeled, clean.
A woman with three kids met him there. He walked her through like a store. "Take whatever you need. No rush. No charge."
She left with a microwave, dishes, winter coats for the kids, blankets. Crying. Thanking him over and over.
"Dad, what is this?"
He sighed. "When your mom and I divorced in '92, I moved into an empty apartment. Slept on the floor for three months. Ate off paper plates. It broke something in me, that emptiness. Made a promise then. If I ever could, I'd help people starting over."
"But $89 a month"
"I don't need much. But they need everything. People leaving abuse. People getting out of shelters. Refugees. Anyone starting from zero."
He'd been doing it for eleven years. Filled that unit with donated furniture, thrift store finds, things neighbors gave him. Gave it all away to people rebuilding their lives. Over 200 families.
"Why didn't you tell us?"
"Because you'd try to stop me. Say I can't afford it. But I can't afford not to. You don't forget what empty feels like."
I posted about it on Facebook. Just a photo of Dad in his storage unit, brief explanation. Asked if anyone had furniture to donate.
It exploded. 4,000 shares in two days. Donations poured in. Furniture stores contributed. People rented additional units. Five units now. Volunteers helping.
"Dad's Second Start" it's called. Sixteen storage facilities across the state doing the same thing. Furnishing empty apartments for people escaping, recovering, beginning again.
Dad still pays for his original unit though. Won't let anyone else cover it.
"It's my promise," he says. "Some things you pay for yourself."
Last week, a woman showed up with her daughter. "Your dad furnished my apartment in 2015 when I left my abusive husband. I'm a social worker now. I send people to him. Brought dishes to donate."
Dad cried. Doesn't cry often.
Because he remembers sleeping on an empty floor. And he made sure hundreds of others never had to."

@kwelkernbc@MeetThePress @DAGToddBlanche @SenTimKaine@LindseyGrahamSC@kwelkernbc, you and your broadcast have gone so far downhill since Trump took CBS over. That's really too bad. I can't believe you give so much time to people that just lie, lie, lie without any accountability.
BREAKING: In a stunning moment, a former NATO Commander just made sure the world knows Donald Trump is 100% beholden to Vladimir Putin’s interests. This is what our allies think of our President. Embarrassing.
