A petition was filed before the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday challenging the 30-day detention orders issued against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s sisters Aleema Khan, Dr Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance, seeking their immediate release.

The petition was filed by Aleema’s son, Shahraiz Khan, through advocate Rana Mudasar Umar, challenging the detention of his mother and her two sisters. It sought the annulment of the detention orders and the immediate release of all three women.

Prime Minister @andyburnham and Foreign Secretary @Ed_Miliband : how much longer will Britain remain silent?

For three years the father of my two sons, and Pakistan’s former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, has been brutally penalised by his political opponents, in a personal vendetta by Army Chief, Asim Munir,  which according to the UN,  amounts to torture and which  is now taking a potentially fatal toll on his physical and mental health. 

He has endured 3 years of solitary confinement. For nearly ten months now his family has been denied contact with him. He has been deprived of the most basic human contact, denied access to books, lawyers and doctors.

The international human-rights standards are unequivocal. Under the UN’s Nelson Mandela Rules, solitary confinement lasting more than 15 consecutive days is prohibited and amounts to torture.

He has endured this treatment not for 15 days, but for three years.

Pakistan’s own Supreme Court has now intervened: ordering comprehensive  medical treatment, access to his personal doctor, regular family visits and twice-weekly calls with his sons.

Yet those orders are being defied.

This is no longer simply a Pakistani political matter. It is a human-rights emergency.

He has deep and lifelong ties to Britain. He studied at Oxford University, captained Oxford University cricket and spent years playing county cricket in England. His relationship with this country stretches back more than half a century. His charitable activities were internationally recognised, and  include building the only free cancer hospital in Pakistan as well as a university.

His sons, my two boys, Sulaiman and Kasim, are British citizens. They have been forced to watch their father’s health decline from thousands of miles away, prevented from visiting him, denied visas, publicly threatened by government officials with arrest themselves, and even denied court-mandated regular phone calls. 

I have repeatedly appealed to the UK government to intervene. Purported attempts at back channelling have evidently failed. The previous Foreign Secretary @DavidLammy informed me in writing that Britain would not  intervene if my sons, British citizens, are arrested when they travel to Pakistan to visit their father. 

@FCDOGovUK: Britain must now speak out publicly and unequivocally. Demand that Pakistan comply with its own Supreme Court;  restore Imran Khan’s medical access, his right to see his family, end his prolonged isolation and uphold his fundamental human rights.

Pakistan is a Commonwealth country. Britain has a long and proud tradition of standing against arbitrary detention, inhumane treatment and the denial of fundamental rights. Those principles mean very little if we invoke them only selectively and neglect them when inconvenient.
This an appeal to the new Burnham government  to please now do the right thing.

میں آپ کو بتاؤں کہ عمران خان نے ایسا کیا جُرم کیا کہ امریکہ کو اُسے فوراً اسکے عہدے سے ہٹانا پڑا اور اگر امریکہ ایسا نہ کرتا تو اسے کس قسم کے نقصانات اٹھانے پڑ سکتے تھے۔
اس کو سمجھنے کے لیے پہلے دو تصورات کا احاطہ کرتے ہیں۔

*1) پیٹرو ڈالر کیا ہے؟ یہ 1974 میں شاہ فیصل اور صدر نکسن کے درمیان ایک معاہدہ ہے*۔

اس معاہدے کے تحت سعودی عرب ذمہ داری یہ تھی کہ اوپیک کے تمام ممالک کو تیل امریکی ڈالر میں فروخت کرنے پر راضی کرے اور کوئی دوسری کرنسی یا سونا قبول نہ کرے۔ فروخت سے حاصل ہونے والی تمام آمدنی امریکی بینکوں یا فیڈرل ریزرو میں جمع کی جائے گی جس سے USD کی مانگ میں اضافہ ہوتا ہے کیونکہ کسی بھی ملک کو تیل خریدنے کے لیے پہلے USD خریدنا پڑتا ہے اور یہ انتظام USD کو مضبوط رکھتا ہے۔

بدلے میں سعودی کرنسی ایک ڈالر = 3.75 ریال مقرر کی گئی تھی، سعودی معیشت کی حالت جیسی بھی ہو امریکی ڈالر اور ریال کی شرح یہی رہے گی اور یہی وجہ ہے کہ آج 48 سال بعد ہی ایک ڈالر , تین اعشاریہ پچھتر ریال کے برابر ہے۔ دوسرا امریکہ نے گارنٹی دی کہ آل سعود اقتدار میں رہے گا، حکومت میں کوئی تبدیلی نہیں ہوگی۔

امریکہ کی ذمہ داری اس بات کو یقینی بنانا تھی کہ اوپیک ممالک میں سے کوئی بھی اس معاہدے سے کسی صورت بھی باہر نہ نکلے۔ عراق اور لیبیا نے بغاوت کی اور ہم سب جانتے ہیں ان کی حالت کیا ہوئی۔

*2) 1953 میں ہندوستان اور سوویت یونین (روس) کے درمیان ہندوستانی روپیہ-روبل تجارت کا معاہدہ ہوا*۔
جس کے تحت روس سے ہندوستانی خریداری کے لیے وہ ہندوستانی روپے میں ادائیگی کریں گے۔ اس سے ہندوستانی روپے کی مانگ میں اضافہ ہوتا رہے گا اور کرنسی مضبوط رہے گی -
دوئم ہندوستان سے روسی خریداری کے لیے روسی روبل میں ادائیگی کریں گے۔ اس سے روبل کی مانگ میں اضافہ ہوتا ہے اور کرنسی مضبوط رہتی ہے۔
ایک ہندوستانی بینک روس میں ایک شاخ کھولے گا اور روس کا ایک بینک تجارت کی سہولت کے لیے ہندوستان میں ایک شاخ کھولے گا - یہ سمجھنا بہت ضروری ہے کہ یہ معاہدہ 1953 میں ہوا تھا جو 1974 میں پیٹرو ڈالر کے معاہدے سے پہلے ہوا تھا۔

*عمران خان پہلے پاکستانی وزیراعظم تھے جنہوں نے 2019 میں پاکستانی روپے اور چینی یوآن میں لین دین کا چین سے معاہدہ کیا*۔ اس معاہدے میں سیمی کنڈکٹر، ٹرانسفارمرز، نشریاتی آلات اور الیکٹرونکس آلات شامل تھے۔ اگرچہ امریکہ اس سے خوش نہیں تھا، لیکن وہ چپ رہا کیونکہ اس میں تیل کا لین دین شامل نہیں تھا۔

*عمران خان نے 2022 میں تیل کے لیے پاکستانی روپے اور روسی روبل کا معاہدہ کرنے کے بالکل قریب تھا*۔
یاد رکھیں پیٹرو ڈالر کا معاہدہ 1974 کا ہے۔ اور امریکہ پاکستان کے اس معاہدے کو کبھی قبول نہیں کرسکتا تھا کیونکہ اگر دوسرے ممالک بھی اس کی پیروی کرتے ہیں تو USD کمزور ہو جائے گا اور امریکی معیشت میں گراوٹ آجائے گی اور وہ مزید سپر پاور نہیں رہے گا۔

*اگر عمران خان ایسا کرنے میں کامیاب ہو جاتا تو اگلے الیکشن ہارنے کی قیمت پر بھی پاکستان امریکی غلامی سے نکل آتا اسی لئے امریکہ کو اسے فوری طور پر ہٹانا پڑا۔ اس کے علاوہ امریکہ کے پاس کوئی چارہ نہیں تھا*۔

*عمران خان کو اللہ کا شکر ادا کرنا چاہیے کہ وہ ابھی تک صدام حسین اور معمر قذافی کے پاس نہیں پہنچا جس کی حتی المقدور کوششیں جاری ہیں*.

*اگر عمران خان دوبارہ وزیراعظم منتخب ہوتا ہے اور اپنی دوسری مدت میں وہ معاہدہ کرنے میں کامیاب ہو جاتا ہے تو روپے کی یہ مسلسل قدر میں کمی رک جائے گی*.

پاکستان IMF کو ادائیگی کرنا شروع کر دے گا اور تبادلوں کی شرح بحال ہو جائے گی اور پاکستان دو سے تین سال میں آئی ایم ایف اور ورلڈ بینک کی غلامی کا طوق گلے سے اتار پھینکے گا۔

سیاسی وابستگی سے بالاتر ہو کر حب الوطنی کو ملحوظ خاطر رکھتے ہوئے اپنی اور اپنی آئندہ نسلوں کیلئے سوچیں.
یہی یہ سب کچھ موجودہ حکومت کر لے تو ملک خوشحال ھو سکتا ھے۔

Because it reopens the one file Rawalpindi wanted buried forever: Imran Khan’s removal, Biden administration's pressure, Pakistan’s ISI & military establishment, and the “all will be forgiven” line that never stopped haunting Islamabad.

The newly released three-page “SECRET / NO CIRCULATION” cypher reportedly records a meeting between U.S. Assistant Secretary Donald Lu and Pakistan’s ambassador, where Washington expressed anger over Imran Khan’s visit to Moscow on the very day Russia invaded Ukraine, and warned that relations would become difficult if Khan remained in power.

Weeks later, Khan held up a document at a public rally and alleged a foreign conspiracy against his government. In April 2022, he was removed through Pakistan’s first successful no-confidence vote against a Prime Minister - backed by MUNIR and opposition.

Since 2022, Pakistan’s generals sold the world a story.

That Imran was finished because of domestic politics.

That there was no external pressure.

That the military had nothing to do with the democratic collapse.

That Pakistan was simply moving forward.

This is the problem with running a country through uniforms, fear and managed narratives. Documents survive. Timelines survive. Betrayal survives.

Asim Munir wants to present himself as Washington’s useful man, the Gulf’s security broker, Iran’s mediator and Pakistan’s supreme power centre.

But this release reminds everyone that Pakistan’s real crisis is not India, not America, not Imran Khan.

Pakistan’s real crisis is its army treating democracy as rented property.

If Pakistan wants to save face now, it has only one serious option:

Release Imran Khan.
