📢On #WorldPatientSafetyDay 🏥 we’re starting to share some of our members’ experiences of crowding & patient safety issues.
Action must be taken to end overcrowding, long waits & delayed discharges.
It is what clinicians need & patients deserve.
#ResuscitateEmergencyCare
Our Emergency Department is there to save the lives of those with life-threatening injuries or illnesses where time is critical.
If your condition is less serious you may be asked to seek treatment in another setting, like an Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC).

Follow on question. Also a poor but sadly too real choice (accepting that none of these are ok). Please RT if u answer. If you or your relative required hospital admission and were acutely sick (not ICU sick), been treated in ED & long waits for a bed would you rather be in?
@jim_crawfurd Absolutely, we also extend this rule to coroner's statement requests and AER(Datex) statements- all via consultant supervisor. Reduce unnecessary angst where possible.
Some clips of the advocacy we’ve been doing today in between the diploma ceremonies. We’re not holding back, but will the message get through? https://t.co/mB99rlyQfs and https://t.co/45Mgrtw79e. Hotel lighting had a sinister effect mind … @RCollEM@RCEMpresident
@adi_kumar1 Why in 2022 do we still expect on call specialties to hold bleep whilst operating? Its unsafe for both patient on table and patients left in crowded EDs waiting onward direction.
