Exploring open-source,computational & networked food systems 👨🌾 #nerdfarmers#foodcomputer (this account is no longer active and standing as an archive)
Github archive updated for the OpenAg Initiative including #opensource hardware, software and data created by the OpenAg Initiative https://t.co/FSjLszpTEh
We have adapted the #foodcomputer project from @MITOpenAg to European standards and replaced the original microcomputer by a #M5stack and its sensors and it's now installed in a French school and helps children learn how to grow plants.
Changing weather patterns, shifting climate zones, and growing populations all spell trouble for the foods we've traditionally grown and eaten — but innovators like
@ndidiNwuneli, @UmaValeti, @calebgrowsfood, and others are rethinking our food systems: https://t.co/vlbZG4lF4I
internal test of #PFCedu 3.0 machines sent to schools fall of 2018.After we got them back we tested them Jan 2019 to Feb 2019 -spoiler alert- they grew stuff https://t.co/wLxnZ0cXPD
The #OpenAgMx initiative began in 2015, with the first CityFarm laboratory prototype, designed by @calebgrowsfood. Today it has its own prototype designed in Mexico And it houses the #OpenAgCommunityMx We are glad to remember the history of this incredible project.
“Agriculture is turning from atoms into bits.” On @BNNBloomberg’s Power Shift, @calebgrowsfood talks about how machine learning can help improve the flavor of basil and other plants, and why @MITOpenAg is committed to open source. https://t.co/7koR7Vx5eR
Everything coming up periwinkle @MITOpenAg 😍 why research periwinkle? It’s recognized by the @WHO as an essential cancer therapy drug and if we can use #cea#foodservers + climate optimization we could expand availability and affordability to more people🌍https://t.co/tYoAKfoisi
Upgrades happening @MITOpenAg 1. New prototype boards! - top is old #pfcedu and bottom is new one — smaller form factor, more integrated components, led status indicators, hard reset switch for WiFi, now using @MyRasberrypi, more sensors! 2. Our chassis 42 piece down to 32!
In 2015 we built a new prototype & rather than scrap it we #shared it w/ @MITEFMexico who took it and ran! That’s what we do - spread #seedsofchange - but don’t take our word for it check out this #throwback video (in Spanish) from https://t.co/hyu8d2Ir4a #opensource
I could watch this all day - internal test of #personalfoodcomputer#pfc growing with a variable (read as psychodelic) spectrum created by our internal designed and manufactured 6 channel controllable #LED arrays https://t.co/T0MeS4AyTF via @YouTube
Released a new #dataset from our #foodcomputers@cooperhewitt that have been running since May! Over 30k data points and 2k+ images - all raw data here: https://t.co/0SzOjQi2ov a fun time lapse showing growing, pruning, water refills, harvest and replanting all inside a museum
