Today, Dennis Francis ๐น๐น was sworn in as President of the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly ๐บ๐ณ. Mr Francis was elected in June and will hold the position for one year.

Yesterday, the Survey had the great pleasure of cementing further collaboration with @CImpacs, @CARPHA1 and GA-CDRC @UWI_CaveHill by signing a project partnership agreement

"Technology at the Service of Peace."

Today we concluded the CARICOM Conference on the Human Impacts of Autonomous Weapons with a declaration signed by #CARICOM member states.
This declaration establishes a strong regional position on regulating #KillerRobots ahead of October's #UNGA23@SGI_OUNA@CImpacs

While we celebrate the great technological advances of our time, it is imperative that we assess the inherent emerging threats that come with these advances. The agreed declaration sets out CARICOMโs position on the issue of Autonomous Weapons.

In the margins of the ACCP, @CImpacs convened a meeting of the Standing Committee of Commissioners of Police on 26 May 2023. We were honored to have with us the @INTERPOL_SG who took the time to understand the challenges being faced in the Caribbean.
CARICOM IMPACS colleagues also participated in the Association of Caribbean Commissioners of Police Meeting held in Trinidad and Tobago. Here we were able to present on our initiatives and garner further support for the work we are doing
We have been busy!! We all have been working especially hard in the last two weeks to ensure that we meet the mandates set for us. The meeting of the Standing Committees of Chiefs of Immigration and Comptrollers of Customs was convened on 16-18 May in Jamaica.
And last but not least, @CImpacs staff. This week has taught us we are strong together. All of this would not be possible without the hard work and dedication. Now the work really begins!
