@KCGOrtiz Lol just saw this. I appreciate the endorsement from a fellow pyridine aficionado! We will have to work in your dearomatization wizardry on a future project!
New in #OrgLett: @MMajireck and a team of entirely undergraduate students from @HamiltonCollege develop bench-stable 2-halopyridinium ketene hemiaminals as a new class of reagents for synthesis of 2-aminopyridines. Read this #OpenAccess 🔗 article today! https://t.co/Ea0MlrsWfR
@billthechemist Great questions! We made both of those compounds (in a separate paper) but they were not as well behaved. Isolable but not as stable. The 4-chloro slowly hydrolyzes to the 4-pyridone if I recall. But it's definitely worth reinvestigating. (Takes notes as I work on this grant...)
nifty pyridinium paper from @MMajireck at Hamilton college. mild SnAr conditions on easily synthesized N-vinyl pyridinium salts. Simple conditions to cleave the final product to pyridine or the N-oxides and some promising future alkylation reactions! https://t.co/kCOiSMSuaK
Delighted to share our latest work on a Chemoenzymatic Diversity-Oriented Synthesis strategy for generating complex, natural-product-like compounds with enzymes. Big 👏to the lead authors Andrew Bortz and John Bennett for this beautiful work!🎉https://t.co/45xnT3n2tJ

#opinion from @insidehighered: Undergraduate only institutions are an often underestimated force in research.
My undergraduates advance my research, inspire new ideas, and bring awesome energy to my research lab. #liberalartslife@HamiltonCollege
