@Ed_Miliband@MartinSLewis You said anyone could apply . I’ve checked my local council and already it’s saying the new find will follow guidelines of the old one so for example you need to be on universal credit . I think your comments on the show are misleading and will cause councils to be inundated .
@LowCarbonD61778@OctopusEnergy How many solar panels do you have to create £1.90 - is that after the bill or what you generated ? What was the costing on the solar panels . We have just purchased a very old house no heating at present . Quotes coming in at 90k to put in solar / heat pump / battery
Bizarre last episode . Didn’t really fit, very odd . Shame Tilly didn’t win the cash as she needs the money more than say for example Charlie . However Tillys partner was also loaded . #handcuffed
@MartinSLewis I’ve just googled local council very clear that any support is for vulnerable families on existing fund . Ie ; not open to anyone as he vaguely suggested on your programme . It mentions food banks etc . Cannot find the latest scheme so clearly making it difficult to claim .
@MartinSLewis Just googled our local council . The fund they have advertised ( old fund ) is completely geared to people on benefits/ low income . It mentions food banks etc . Clearly a working or retired couple cannot apply for this . I’m not sure what planet Ed is on .
@Ed_Miliband Oil support / no support for a retired couple they are using their savings to live off and have worked hard all their life . They have no heating as prices ridiculous.
@Ed_Miliband Heat pumps are too expensive even with the grants . Price of electricity too high compared to Europe . There is no financial benefit to buying a heat pump when electricity prices are high . No real savings . What’s going to happen when people need to replace them without a grant
@MartinSLewis@itvMLshow@Ed_Miliband Should be universal? Why not for people that have paid their taxes too? Also speed they have come up with a solution is too slow . The companies have been charging ridiculous prices for a couple of weeks . Applying to a council will take too long even on benefits .
@Ed_Miliband You need to control the price of electricity. The figures don’t add up . People can’t afford to switch onto heat pumps . The grant is nowhere near enough and when you finally have the equipment your bills are the same or more . I’ve had quotes that are ridiculous.
@Ed_Miliband Heating oil £624 in December for 1000L . Today you can order it for £1612 . Looks like you have full control of the situation!!!! NOT My elderly parents urgently need to re- order .
@TrisOsborneMP Not sure what a letter will do as of NOW . Just quoted £1612 from a local company . Have ordered with CERTAS for my elderly parents a few days ago . No price - find that out 24 hours before . Same amount 1000L was £624 in December . No heating on at present .
@MartinSLewis@Ed_Miliband It’s good that he has written a letter but we need action immediately not threats of investigation . I’ve put an order in with no price given - CERTAS 3 days ago . The local company are still quoting TODAY a huge uptick . Paid £624 in December 2025 now £1612. Turned heating off
@LeShuttle_Help Border control delays are now up to 1 hour from 30 mins this morning, but trains still leaving on time . Are people getting on their allocated train with their timed standard ticket or is there a delay similar to yesterday ?
@SamRidleyy@dabe1971@MartinSLewis I only realised the double tax part last night via the show . Best to spend it . I’ve drawn down the 25% tax free prior to budget .
@custardcross @MartinSLewis Yes I did realise it’s on death, but it will now encourage rapid drawdowns and spending that aren’t necessary from pension funds . Whereas previously you probably would be more “careful “ and wait until older . If you have the money in a pension spend it .
@MartinSLewis Not increasing the LHA will have a massive impact on renters . It’s already well behind current rents . Renters are struggling to find properties they can afford .
@MartinSLewis Encouraged everyone to save money . Brought in rules to make compulsory contributions by employers and employees . Then taxing the money they have made everyone contribute in the first place - govt win win . Rip off . Waiting for them to scrap the 25% tax free !
