China is installing 12GW of solar power capacity every month.
That’s theoretically enough to end day-time rolling blackouts in South Africa. And that’s just one month’s work.
Being both imaginative and determined is a powerful combination because it's so rare — so many imaginative people are dreamy and ineffective, and so many determined people are merely energetic robots.
Robinhood’s numbers were horrendous. Stock trading volume is down by 75%. The ave customer has a $5k balance and lost 25% in q1. The ave customer paid $220 in annualized fees or over 4%. $HOOD
Jack Dorsey sold his 1st-ever tweet as an NFT last year.
It was bought for $2.9 million, which he converted to Bitcoin & donated to COVID-19 relief in Africa.
But last week, the buyer relisted it for $48 million & the auction ended with a top bid of just $280.

Viewed as an asset, education has some attractive qualities. It naturally tends to compound. You can carry it with you easily. No one can steal or tax it. And unlike most assets, it makes life more interesting.
@TorqueLifeZA Backend isn’t the issue here. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a “one-stop-shop”; rather can leverage brand and users to expand into gaming. It can fall under the umbrella of NFLX.
@TorqueLifeZA Hear me out: I don’t think NFLX will ever capture the “hardcore” gamers; they’re far more loyal to the Sony’s and Microsoft’s of the world. But they have access to ~220m subscribers and that’s hard to discount, and with a TAM of 3 billion gamers, I’m sure they can find a niche.
@TorqueLifeZA Interesting take, but don’t think you can rule them out that quickly.
By your logic, no one can ever displace the incumbents. Just because you have market domination, doesn’t mean there can’t be migration of users or failure to acquire new users entering the market.
Current estimates suggest that there are around 3 billion active gamers, and that's one helluva TAM. Doesn't even include growing market for streaming gaming.
In light of a disappointing earnings report for Netflix (and subsequent fall in stock price), it may accelerate their foray into gaming (producing/hosting/streaming).

sounds obvious but remains some of the best advice I ever got.
