El actor Jack Gleeson interpretó de forma magistral a un Joffrey cruel, caprichoso, sádico y cobarde. Logró que toda la audiencia deseara ver su caída desde el momento en que ordenó la ejecución de Ned Stark.

El envenenamiento ocurrió en su propio banquete de bodas, en la cúspide de su arrogancia, justo después de humillar públicamente a su tío Tyrion Lannister.

Para un personaje que causó tanto dolor de forma violenta, su muerte por asfixia, indefenso y con el rostro desfigurado por el veneno "El Estrangulador", se sintió como un castigo divino.
