Did a housing doorknock (partly in the rain 😅) today.

It's interesting. The housing crisis is affecting their lives, their family and friends' lives. It's affecting all of us, so it's easy to chat about.

People want bold action on it, and they don't see Labor as doing that.

Welp, it's been less than a year but I've already changed my mind on this. Think I'll just use it to keep up to date on some of my activities, maybe use it as a general politics account.

The result has been declared, and we've managed to achieve a 2.7% swing in Thomastown for a total result of 6.8%. A very exciting result which was only achievable thanks to the hard work of several people.

A bunch of fascists managed to get a queer youth event in St Kilda cancelled. Our community showed up in droves to support the event and counter the fascists.

There were 150 of us and only 5 of them, with 10 more fascists seemingly running away after they saw our numbers.

Climate activist Violet Coco given 15 month sentence, 8 months no parole after she blocked 1 lane of the Harbour Bridge for 25 mins in April

Violet is of course well known for her climate activism. She even came to speak to our Greens branch at one point, which encouraged me to get more involved with acts of civil disobedience.

We achieved something good here, but this shouldn't be the end. It should (and if I have anything to say about it, will) be a beginning for the Greens here.

While counting is still underway, it looks like I'll have achieved a +2.2% swing in the seat of Thomastown, a fantastic result for such a small campaign. I'm proud and honoured to have been chosen as the Greens candidate for the area, and I hope I've done a good job.

And we need to allocate resources here. At polling booths which were manned we saw significantly higher swings to us (+8.5% in one case!) than in booths which were unmanned.

Considering the work Apsara has done in things like organising refugee actions, I'd consider this a pretty important endorsement.
