Friends: with deep regret, the time has come for me to close my Twitter account. I'm loath to abandon the community here but I've reached the point where I cannot in conscience stay. Find me on🟦or LinkedIn!
(Still on IG for now but TBH, I'm having doubts about that, too...🫤)
@networkrail@northern@lner are there going to be any trains from Leeds to York this evening? Or is everything now cancelled. I'm stuck at Leeds and even the platform staff don't seem to know what's going on!
@AmazonHelp I make a complaint about automated complaint systems and I get an automated message directing me back to the same 'help' pages that were no help before. Unbelievable. You just couldn't make it up.
@AmazonUK you are useless. Utterly useless.
You said my package would be delivered on Monday, when I would have been in. Instead it was delivered today, when I was out. My delivery instructions asked for it to be delivered to a specific neighbour if I was out. Instead it has (1)
Your 'help' system is deliberately designed to prevent me from getting any help. Your chatbot insists you can't do anything before 1pm Tuesday. Why should I wait that long when I've made reasonable checks and been unable to find it? Why can't I speak to a human being? (END)
been dumped at a random back door that I can't recognise from the photograph. (The email claim's it's MY back door--it isn't--my house doesn't have a back door.) I've checked nearby doorsteps but it's nowhere to be seen. (2)
...to find that the Office closed at 4pm "due to staff shortage". I'll now have to waste another 20 minutes of my time going back there tomorrow morning, and probably be late for work.
I'll try to avoid using @RoyalMail or @PostOffice in future if I can possibly help it. (END)
Hopeless service from @RoyalMail and @PostOffice this week. Bought an item online; sender dispatches on Tues last week, 48hr tracked. On Wednesday, I get the notification that the parcel will be delivered on Thursday. I work Thurs/Fri so I request redelivery on Monday. (1/5)
Then on Wednesday morning--at last! I get a notification that the parcel has been delivered to the @PostOffice.
After work I dash across town as fast as I can to reach said Post Office; I get there five minutes before closing time... (4/5)
I was disgusted to see photos of the anti-immigration protestors climbing on and trampling all over this part of the Cenotaph yesterday. Using Southampton’s main war memorial and symbol of remembrance as a platform to call for mass deportations is, in my opinion, utterly obscene.
If anybody is still giving Muskrat the benefit of the doubt: don't. He's a fascist. I don't use that word lightly, but he's not even trying to hide it any more. Call him out for what he is. https://t.co/eCCqWMh4Ej
Happy Burns Night to all who celebrate!🏴 Here's a flashback to last year's Scottish Steam Spectacular at the @SpaVRofficial; ex-Caledonian Railway locomotives 419 and 828 buffer up at Eridge.
NEWS: C20 Society is leading efforts to save Bath Fire Station from proposed demolition.
The 1930s classical Art Deco building was a rare pre-war project by a female architect, and the station went on to play a crucial role in protecting the city during the ‘Baedeker Blitz’ air-raids of 1942.

Another notable anniversary in 2025 is the 70th of @festrail's reopening by preservationists. This week #PreGroupingWednesday looks at the FfR's 1886-built Double Fairlie 0-4-4-0T Livingston Thompson, now enjoying an honourable retirement in the @RailwayMuseum, York.
@CharlesEd94 @GarethDennis@b0n0myt1res@PronouncedAlva Not sure I buy that. Flights are typically 1hr 15 or so, and how much time does one waste getting to the airports, getting through security etc? Whereas you can hop straight on a train and go city centre to city centre.
