At The Queen’s Coronation in 1953, The Duke of Edinburgh swore to be Her Majesty’s ‘liege man of life and limb.’
The Duke was a devoted consort (companion to the Sovereign) for almost 70 years, from Her Majesty’s Accession in 1952 until his death: https://t.co/GCMvYfu4SD
Yesterday at #CSW65 it was great to hear of the rigorous approach to combat online sexual abuse taken in Australia. The session stressed the importance of addressing underlying issues to enable prevention. Great need for co-ordinated action, regionally and internationally.
The UK wide National Day of Reflection tomorrow on March 23, is part of coming to terms, as a nation, with the way our life has been turned upside down due to #COVID19 There has been much loss and sorrow but there are also reasons to be hopeful.

Shocking that Turkey is withdrawing from the Istanbul Convention which embodies the principles for protection of women and girls against violence - a deep disappointment and backward step.

"We want to partner. We want to cooperate. We want to mobilize. And we want to do it together.
We must continue to challenge patriarchal & misogynistic structures that silence girls & women, dehumanize boys & men."

Inspirational talk at #CSW65 from Tekalign Shiferaw about “women made in the image of God”
On running workshops that are 50/50 men and women, about peace building - women then go out into own communities - and men gain a better understanding of the role of women.

Exciting to hear @MU_WWP Sheran Harper talking at a #CSW65 event of the UK Government and NGOs yesterday: “women and girls fully alive - surviving, recovering and flourishing”

At a #CSW65 event @Mashobane61 shared how powerful it is when male clergy understand the issues of #GBV and use their influence in the community to bring about change - e.g. refusing to marry under age children and educating families to stop #FGM.
@SonkeTogether@menengage
A powerful address from the Bishop of Brasilia - championing the need for a “new model of masculinity” within the Church, so there is a culture change and women can take up full and equal leadership roles.

Profound words on the idea of a round table at a recent #CSW65 side event.
A quote from the event - “when we think about [the idea of] table, it is about sharing, feeding and serving each other - not just taking everything for oneself.“
Thanks @PaRDSecretariat
Day 3 of #CSW65 and another motivating morning. Powerful session today as part of @UN_CSW. Looking at “safe spaces” - especially in UK - so pertinent following the tragic death last week.

Yesterday @savita_pawnday shared how women’s organisations are vital at grassroots level in creating peace BUT are largely absent from the high level negotiating table. This must change.
