Discover how Kiho Lee, an investigator for @MUAnimalScience and ORIP grantee through R01OD035561, secured a $3 million grant to help scientists better address unintended consequences of their gene editing work in this @IowaPBS feature. 🐖🧬@CAFNRNews
Normally, CRISPR-Cas9 technology is used to edit plant DNA, but Bing Yang and his lab have discovered it can aid researchers in finding weaknesses in crop diseases. It can modify the genes in bacteria, and it's becoming a new speedy research tool.

Last week two of our @MUAnimalScience Researchers spoke at the 2023 Missouri Pork Expo. Dr. Bethany Redel and Dr. Kiho Lee presented "Coming to a Swine Barn Near You, Gene Editing: Perspectives from Two Scientists".
We have been lucky to have many presenters in the last month. Sai Goutham Yeddula presented his research this week on "Stem Cells and Interspecies Chimeras: Challenges and Opportunities for Improvements -- Generation of Rat liver in Mouse."

We want to thank our last two presenters, Lindsey Fallon and Paula Chen. They have done an amazing job updating colleagues on their research regarding bovine paternal contributions and genetic engineering in the poultry industry. Mule Team Meetings are 11:30am on Tuesdays.
The MULE Team wants to thank KJ Uh and Benjamin Nelson for being our first two presenters in @MUAnimalScience@CAFNRNews this semester! We loved hearing about your research and hope to see more faces as the seminar continues.
We are excited to have a full schedule of presenters for this semester! Thank you to everyone who came to our first meeting! We hope to see you at Dr. Uri Galili's seminar next week!
Join us Tuesdays this semester for MULE Team meetings! We will have presenters speaking about a variety of topics in Animal Science and Livestock Engineering. We can't wait to see you at ASRC this semester! @MUAnimalScience@MUCAFNRresearch
Researchers Dr. Lee, Dr. Prather, Dr. Wells, and Dr. Telugu have been aiming to validate pig models for Alzheimer's disease (AD), and this week the AD grant was officially posted on the @NIH Reporter!
