π’ Breaking Barriers, Building Trust: Improving Adolescent and Youth Access to Friendly Health Services in Kwale County!
Every adolescent and young person deserves access to healthcare that is respectful, inclusive, confidential and responsive to their needs.
On 21st October 2026, @MWARPKenya through the Sponsorship Programme supported by Plan International Kenya, supported a Reflection and Follow-Up Continuous Medical Education (CME) meeting on Adolescent- and Youth-Friendly Services (AYFS) in Kwale County.
The engagement brought together #healthcare workers, public health officers and youth representatives to reflect on progress, address barriers to accessing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (#SRHR) services, and identify practical ways to improve healthcare for adolescents and young people.
Discussions highlighted the importance of protecting #privacy and #confidentiality, strengthening referral systems, improving service availability and creating safe spaces where young people can access information and support without fear of stigma or discrimination.
The way forward? Strengthening youth participation, enhancing collaboration among healthcare providers, and orienting all facility staff on adolescent- and youth-friendly services to promote respectful, inclusive and responsive healthcare.
π€ Through this engagement, MWARP continues to champion a healthcare system where young people are heard, their rights are respected, and their health needs are prioritised.
Together, we can build trust, remove barriers and ensure every young person receives the care they deserve!

π Sharing Care, Changing Norms: Engaging Men for Gender Equality!
Today, @MWARPKenya , through the Scaling Care Innovation Project, engaged #male students at Riadha College of Islamic Studies in Amu Island, Lamu, in a transformative conversation on shared #unpaid care work, womenβs #rights, and sexual and gender-based violence (#SGBV).
The session challenged traditional beliefs that place #household chores and #childcare primarily on women, highlighting how sharing these #responsibilities promotes gender equality, strengthens families, and allows women and girls more opportunities for #education, #economic empowerment, and personal development.
Drawing on Islamic teachings, participants explored how supporting #wives and sharing family responsibilities align with the values of compassion, mutual respect, and care. The discussion also addressed SGBV, early marriage, child labour, and the importance of protecting womenβs and childrenβs rights.
The result? A shift in perspectives! Through open dialogue, students reflected on cultural norms and recognised the importance of men and boys becoming active partners in caregiving, preventing violence, and promoting safe, supportive families.
The engagement also highlighted the need for continued community awareness on SGBV prevention, reporting mechanisms, and the protection of women and children, with participants calling for further learning opportunities.
MWARP remains committed to engaging men and boys as champions of positive social change, building a society where care is shared, rights are respected, and every family member is valued.

πΏ GROWING A GREENER FUTURE: EVERY TREE PLANTED, EVERY ACTION COUNTS! π
In support of Kenyaβs ambitious target of growing 15 billion trees by 2032, today @MWARPKenya joined the Kenya Forest Service and the community of #Majoreni, Lungalunga Sub County to mark #MazingiraDay, reinforcing the importance of collective action in #protecting, #restoring, and #nurturing our #environment.
The day was marked by the planting of #mangrove trees, a vital step towards conserving our coastal #ecosystems, protecting #marine habitats, supporting #biodiversity, and safeguarding the livelihoods of communities that depend on marine #resources.
Beyond planting trees, the message was clear: environmental conservation begins with each of us! Keeping our surroundings #clean, reducing #pollution, protecting our #forests, and caring for our natural resources are essential steps towards building a healthier and more sustainable future.
MWARP recognizes that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility that requires commitment from individuals, communities, and institutions alike. Every seedling planted, every piece of #waste properly disposed of, and every conservation effort contributes to a greener and healthier planet.
Let us take action today to protect the environment we depend on tomorrow. Together, we can nurture nature and leave a lasting legacy for future generations!

Ahead of International Day of the Girl #IDG , 4 brilliant Girl Advocates from #Kwale_Girls_High_School and #Kingwede_Girls_High_School stepped into executive leadership roles to challenge stereotypes and advocate for their future.
Through a partnership between @PlanKenya (Kwale Program Unit) and Muslim Women Advancement of Rights and Protection @Mwarpkenya , these young leaders participated in the #GirlsTakeover initiative, taking over top offices across Kwale County:
- County Commissioner β Ministry of Interior and National Administration
- County Drought Coordinator β National Drought Management Authority (NDMA)
- County Non-Communicable Disease Coordinator β County Department of Health Services
During these takeovers, the advocates engaged directly with top administrators to discuss leadership journeys, navigate career pathways, and challenge the societal norms that limit young women. Crucially, the girls used their platform to address real issues affecting their daily livesβcalling for immediate action on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights #SRHR and the impacts of climate change in their communities.
After stepping into these roles and delivering powerful calls to action, these young advocates proved once again that leadership has no gender.
The sky is the limit. Empowering a girl is empowering a nation. π°πͺβ¨
