We have issued a NATIONAL ADVISORY: TSUNAMI ACTIVITY following the magnitude 7.7 earthquake near the Loyalty Islands. We expect New Zealand coastal areas to experience strong and unusual currents and unpredictable surges at the shore.

We've just issued our Severe Weather Outlook 🌧🔭
#CycloneGabrielle is expected to move southeastwards out of the tropics and lie north of the country by Sunday.
Impacts are likely for most of the North Island, and parts of the South Island.
We suggest checking MetService throughout the weekend for any weather warnings. Radio stations are also a good source of civil defence messages so stay tuned to your local stations.
