I feel that perception of cycling is at an akward stage in msia. many enjoy as hobby but don't use as commuting. Need to keep encouraging usage (even if it's for hobby) but champion systemic changes to enable commuting.

We need protected bike lanes, proper parking areas, trains + busses that we can bring bicycles on. Everyday ppl that need it for livelihood.

@fazleyff @MOTMalaysia @KSU_MOT Atm the effort by @ktm_berhad is to get ppl cycling as a hobby outside of kl their survey isnt focusing on daily cycling commutes. Grander scheme of things, it's pretty good exposure to other places, boost local economies there and just builds interest in cycling.

Why we shouldn't make it compulsory (re. @TheBasikal) - 1/ Helmet is PPE, Personal Protective Equipment, based on Hierarchy of Safety, PPE is last resort. Avoiding/minimising the risk/danger is the most effective solution. @MOTMalaysia @SuretSingh @transitmy

Bicycle helmets should be made compulsory to helo minimise rider injury in a crash. Miros will soon make a policy proposal on this for consideration by Ministry of Transport.

4/ Helmets may a wrong sense of security. Research showed that cyclists with helmets were involved in more as they felt that they more protected & tend go faster. But, car drivers tend give more space & caution to cyclists without helmet because they think the cyclists are new.
