CCF Closes Firefighting Training at FoLEA

@CCF_Kenya, Mr. Alex Lemarkoko today officiated the closing of a three-week firefighting training for Kenya Forest Service (KFS) officers at the Forest Law Enforcement Academy (FoLEA) in Londiani, Kericho County. The 22 trainees from the Protection and Security Directorate were trained by experts from France’s Valabre School of Security and Fire Fighting.

The officers will form KFS’s firefighting brigade, tasked with managing forest fires and supporting other agencies during emergencies. Mr. Lemarkoko emphasized the importance of building internal firefighting capacity and thanked the French Government for its support through the Capacity Development for Modern Technology in Fire Management Project, which provided modern equipment and fire detection cameras for key forests like Mau and Aberdares.

He noted KFS’s goal of becoming a national leader in fire management. FoLEA Commandant Mr. Appolinary Mwandigha said the training covered radio communication, fire types, safety protocols, drills, and technology use. Also present were Mr. Mohammed A. Mohammed, Major Ronan De Saint Germain, and Project Manager Mr. Patrick Ithinji.
