"The Divorced Military Spouses & Families." Due to this Federal Reach In (created prior to MAGA & MAHA) this group of divorced Patriots & Mil children are subject to ABJECT POVERTY & CRUSHING DEBT.

Post-retirement, the VA waiver requirement—where veterans must forgo an equal amount of military retirement pay to receive disability compensation/DISABILITY PAY—frequently reduces the “disposable military retired pay” the only money $ jar, state courts use to award & configure equitible, fair and just division of assets to the soon to be divorced parties.

Most often based on the 1986 Uniformed Armed Forces Spousal Protection Act & State Child Support Averages w/ Incomes plugged in used to result in a fair division of assests & debts.

Combat-Related Special Compensation (CRSC) formerly military retirement pay is now disability pay & is not divisible as marital property, often forcing ex-spouses to return to court to modify child support and spousal support. This is due to sudden drops in State Ordered Support or No, ZERO state ordered support coming in at all. Fed trumps State.

No warning is legally required. This can happen to anyone," IF," you are a divorced military spouse,

The Divorced Military Spouses are the ONLY Demographic group in which the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT reaches into state divorce post the final state dissolution of the marraige & post-equitible/equal final judgment.

With 95,000 CRSC (Type of DISABILITY) recipients and nearly 900,000 retirees receiving some form of concurrent receipt out of "2 million total retirees, TENS OF THOUSAND'S of Divorced Spouses and Children are estimated to be affected, leading to sudden income drops that can contribute to bankruptcy, homelessness, financial hardship, opportunities, and generational poverty risks for the civilian ex-spouse’s household.

The length of marraige, cause of divorce, or civilan spouses contribution are NEVER PART of the EQUATION, Pre-Nups or prior equitible distribution to include child support ordered by a STATE Judge does not negate the FEDERAL Waiver of Pay.

The only constant is the state ordered debt assigned to the divorced civilan who is now without the resouces to pay this crushing debt.

Court costs to modify support post waiver of pay typically range from $5,000–$10,000 when contested, whether seeking changes to child support or spousal support.

This would occur under the heading," Change of Circumstances Due to Waivers of Pay." These battles excepting some portion of the child support(sometimes all) are typically lost. Federal Law Out Ranks State Law.

Or: We former proud military spouses are SUDDENLY eligible for food stamps & welfare after years of co-service in support of our country.

Many younger as well as long-term 20/20/20 spouses remain unaware of this post-divorce trap until it directly impacts their finances years later.
