@AKBurling@BMcCSJ Most sopranos could sing in the alto range if cantoring. If they can't, they shouldn't cantor. Cantors lead the congregation, so need to sing in a range suitable for that end. Soprano range is not suitable for leading a congregation in song.
@mlarsonkeywest@BMcCSJ The problem isn't the hymns, it is soprano cantors singing in the soprano range. Most people can match pitch within an octave, but not two, so you will lose almost all men in the congregation with a soprano cantor.
@cathfav @ThomasJTobin1 Pope Francis does not seek unity among the faithful, which is why he's so divisive. Those who unify do not constantly disparage those with whom they have some difference.

@allthewhile It's an analogy. Analogies to historically difficult events rub some people the wrong way, but they're not that bad, unless you the writer OR the reader takes the analogy too far.
