@AKBurling @BMcCSJ Most sopranos could sing in the alto range if cantoring. If they can't, they shouldn't cantor. Cantors lead the congregation, so need to sing in a range suitable for that end. Soprano range is not suitable for leading a congregation in song.

@mlarsonkeywest @BMcCSJ The problem isn't the hymns, it is soprano cantors singing in the soprano range. Most people can match pitch within an octave, but not two, so you will lose almost all men in the congregation with a soprano cantor.
