Throughout my wiki, there are various links/videos explaining PLA synthesis and why these biodegradable containers are better for the environment than traditional plastic ones.

@VanessaTu7 I did my research on biodegradable plastics, but did not really consider the effects it could have on human health. It is scary to think that exposure to POPs could lead to neurodegenerative disorders. #prescottchem
@Mercede30843420 Interesting research topic! I drink A LOT of coffee and never realized that ordinary coffee contains so many more artificial sweeteners. Hopefully you can add those tables to your wiki, they would really add to it #prescottchem
Something interesting that I learned from this article is that it is not just microbes that can degrade PLA. Animal and microbial proteases, are also capable of breaking down PLA into smaller polypeptides. #prescottchem
A lightbulb moment for me was learning about exothermic & endothermic reactions! I faintly remember learning about this in general chemistry, but did not quite grasp the concept. It finally clicked for me that energy could be released or absorbed through light. #prescottchem
@katelyndchem408 I also really enjoyed this topic! I took a genetic plant engineering class last semester, so it was cool for me to learn about it in regards to chemistry, as opposed to engineering. #prescottchem
For my project I am researching biodegradable plastic containers composed of PLA created by the company @BASF. BASF utilizies chemistry to make the world more environmentally friendly and sustainable. #prescottchem
@olaceychem I only read through the abstract, but this article might be of use. Plus ScienceDirect is a great resource to look at if this article is not sufficient! #prescottchem https://t.co/boSXwSkT1k
@SiobhanPelleti1 You could try using ScienceDirect. They post interesting articles on current events in the science world, I use this for almost all of my papers/projects. #prescottchem
@Maddy66757079 Unfortunately I have not, but it might be a good idea to audio record your tour, as you likely will not be able to take complete notes while walking around. #prescottchem
Can anyone think of a general chemistry connection that I can make for biodegradable plastic containers made of polylactic acid? I already connected this container to chemical synthesis and chemical compunds, but need 1 more connection. #prescottchem#sciencetwitter#chemtwitter
Given the reaction CH4 + 2H2O -----> CO2 + 4H2 and atomic masses of C, 12.0, H 1.0; and O 16.0, calculate the total mass of products formed. #prescottchem@peerwise
Microbial degradation of four biodegradable polymers in soil and compost demonstrating polycaprolactone as an ideal compostable plastic. - PubMed - NCBI https://t.co/sYHDvVm4QE.

This relates to my project topic (biodegradable plastics) because the polymer PLA is researched in this scientific article and is the major biodegradable component in the plastic containers that I am researching. #prescottchem
