A couple of nights ago, we were coming home from a friend’s birthday.

It was late.
We ordered a Snapp, Iran’s Uber.

The driver was around 55. Respectful, tired, dignified. One of those Iranian men who carry collapse quietly until one small thing opens the wound.

Then we passed one of the regime checkpoints.

He looked at them and started cursing.

Not from road rage.
From memory.

From a life stolen piece by piece.
From a country turned against its own people.
From January.

He began talking about the massacre.

Because everyone remembers January.

The terrorist Islamic Regime occupying Iran thinks checkpoints are a show of control. But to the people, every checkpoint is a reminder of who ruined their lives, who killed their children, who dragged a nation into fear and poverty, who now stands in the streets with guns as if Iran is enemy territory.

Then he said something I have not been able to forget:

“If there were justice, a retired teacher like me would not be driving Snapp at this hour.”

A retired teacher.

A man who spent his life building minds, now driving strangers through the night because his pension cannot carry him through the month.

Even after this year’s raise, Group 13 salaries with all the so called bonuses barely reach 28.7 million. It does not cover the first ten days.

How is he supposed to face his wife, his children, his grandchildren, when a lifetime of honest service has been turned into humiliation?

That car at 2 AM was Iran in miniature.

A retired teacher at the wheel.
A checkpoint outside the window.
January still burning in his voice.
A nation forced to survive inside the ruins made by its occupiers.

And still, beneath the exhaustion, he remembered.

That is what the regime cannot kill.

They can build checkpoints.
They can cut the internet.
They can fill the streets with guns.
They can turn teachers into midnight drivers.

But they cannot make the people forget what was done to them.

Iran remembers.
