This is a Christmas Cactus! The makeup of our soils can make or break products it helps create. The ideal pH of the soil for this plant should be 5.5 to 6.2. Also, as you can see, there is much humus in the soil which helps create a nutrient filled soil. #apesland @franklinlorax

In class we created our own soil that would successfully grow a radish. My group learned that the reason our radish wasn’t growing was due to the amount of peat moss we added. Our amount was too high, which soaked in too much moisture. #apesland @franklinlorax

I saw that this was USDA organic certified. Because it’s organic the farmers prohibit pesticides, antibiotics, synthetic fertilizers, and genetically modified organisms in this crop. This is better for health, but it is a more difficult form of farming. #apespop @franklinlorax

By using my Chromebook I am reducing my ecological foot print. I am reducing the amount of paper I use and reducing the amount of resources I use everyday. I am much more aware of how many resources I have compared to other people around the world. @franklinlorax #apespop

This is my dog Auggie! Dogs are great examples of K-strategists which means that they value quality over quantity. K-strategists often produce fewer offspring but value protecting and caring for them greatly, this keeps their population low. #apeseco @franklinlorax

Due to the production of plastic, lots of this waste ends up in our oceans. A well known example of this is the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. To help stop this issue, I like to use a reusable water bottle rather than multiple plastic water bottles a day. @franklinlorax #apeswater
