I have found a deeper understanding of the value of #contextualizedpractice within the classroom. Learning needs to be relevant, authentic and meaningful in order for students to truly benefit. This is something I am looking forward to implementing in future units. #UoNTeach
Engaging with Twitter as a professional learning tool has allowed me to communicate within the #teaching community and gain ideas that I can implement into future lessons. It is definitely an invaluable tool. #UoNTeach
Stingless native #bees at schools enable children to safely explore & learn about bees, gain an awareness of the impact of human activity on the environment, as well as aiding the #conservation of the native bee. #UoNTeach@worldbeeproject
After research and reflection, I have learnt that #21stcenturylearning is all about the 4 C's: critical thinking, collaborating, communicating and creating! It involves using skills relevant to our dynamically changing world!
What does it mean to you? #UoNTeach@21stCenturyTch
@JackPet36913706 Thanks for sharing, implementing the "8 Aboriginal ways of learning" would be beneficial for all students, even tying into Gardner's multiple intelligence's :)
Hosting native insects in the classroom can help students learn, foster appreciation and help care for our native species/planet. @Minibeast_Wild suggests how we could do this! https://t.co/b6VzBkIg8V What are the ethical/safety considerations? #UoNTeach
@Reace_Louise ICT in the classroom is so important for engagement and inclusion! As the article states "provisionality of ICT provides all the power of the computer to motivate, interest and enthuse, through the use of graphics, movement and sound".
@Reace_Louise @LeadtoFeed Amazing! Most students aren't automatically equipped with these skills, so it would be very beneficial for all in class group work as well as community projects in the wider community!
@BurrRachael The fast food chains is where a LOT of our plastic waste comes from but it's these little changes that make all the difference. My work has replaced plastic straws with paper and I think it's a movement all chains should be on board with.
@BurrRachael The media inspires our students to take action! It is always adapting to what is relevant at the time. We can encourage students to use social media to make a difference which will hopefully inspire others, like a domino effect! ๐ฒ
@BurrRachael This would be a great way to introduce and engage students with sustainability. The visuals are effective and informative. It could also be used when integrating maths and geography, through the use of the statistics and mass ๐
@BurrRachael This is an amazing way to allow students to engage in high order thinking and to "take action" in their learning. I love how it clearly shows curriculum links to many key learning areas!
@BurrRachael This is so interesting! It could inspire schools to consider the plastics in the school canteen and switch over to more biodegradable alternatives. Even using containers/Tupperware that could be returned and washed at the end of the day?
@KateLBurns@Officeworks Very good information to know. It's hard to know where to safely discard electronic waste and Officeworks is accessible to anyone! I will drop off my old phones there :)
@KateLBurns@BehindTheNews This is wonderful. It shows students that if these young girls can make a change, they can too. A good starting point for introducing community based learning and inspiring students to get involved.
