BREAKING: I just signed the bill to extend postpartum coverage for Wisconsin moms from a lousy 60 days to one full year after giving birth.
I promised I'd never stop fighting to make sure moms and babies had the postpartum care they need, and today, I delivered on that promise.
Giving kids access to Medicaid...

Just did some street medicine, taking care of west LA’s homeless. We sign ppl up for medicaid, treat substance use disorders, HIV, anxiety, schizophrenia, wounds, chronic pain, HTN, DM2 etc. All made easier bc of Medicaid. Pains me to know things will get worse for Medicaid pts.
I stand in solidarity with the nearly 1000 SEIU Meriter Hospital nurses in Madison, WI who are rightfully demanding fair pay, safe staffing ratios & improved safety measures.
After over twenty bargaining sessions, Meriter Hospital needs to get serious and reach a contract now.
Women's health research is already deeply underfunded and effective solutions to common conditions do not exist. Divesting from basic scientific research is short-sighted and will only lead to worsening health outcomes. This is not opinion, this is fact.
This funding cancellation is a direct attack on women's health. And a direct attack for the values and beliefs I hold dear. To stop funding for women's health research, sends a clear message that the government does not care about women. And that makes me deeply sad and angry.

YESTERDAY, I had the honor of being the opening ceremony keynote speaker at @SNMA’s AMEC 2024! I LOVE our young people and while I wish very much that I could have been there in New Orleans in person, I was more than touched to connect with our future Black physicians virtually!
